Seeing as how it was sunny and rather warm for the first week in January (55 degrees) I decided to play 18 on our local City course on the par 3 course. After playing 5 holes I teed up on # 6 which runs parallel to a country road. Right after I teed off several Sherriff's deputies and a Kentucky State trooper came flying down that little road with sirens and lights flashing. I finished my first 9 and a few minutes later one of the deputies came to the course and ordered the par 3 course to be cleared. The few of us who were playing the par 3 course went to our cars to wait until we were allowed to continue. some 15 or 20 minutes later we heard a single shot fired and a about 5 or 10 minutes later an ambulance came. After about an hour we were allowed to continue. While i was playing # 6 the second time I saw the ambulance returning with no lights or sirens so I thought no one had been hurt. However this morning I saw the headlines in our local newspaper. "OPD officer  kills burglary suspect. Like the subject says. You just never know.

Sounds like none of you cares when a human is shot to death. :(

    He may rest in peace.

I certainly care when someone gets shot...I care that it's the right target. All too often, it's the good guys that get shot.

    Them, I lose sleep over.

So, a "burglary suspect" is just a target, guilty by bullet?

Pray that you will never be on the wrong end!

No, Guilty by action...Judged by bullet.

With the way the world is going, I pray that none of the innocents end up on the business end of a gun...unfortunately, the nightly news routinely show this to be the sad case.

Please allow me to reword this properly:

Let all suspects be killed - the world will be a better place!

This is a circular argument...and potentially endless...we have vastly different life experiences which have shaped our views, so let's just agree to disagree and play golf...:)
