Are there any efforts to convert the Closest to the Pin courses to full 18 hole play?  I would really love to play Pebble Beach, but would take a virtual play if I could get it

There will be more courses but it all takes time. Which ones they will be will be anyone's guess though.

Time, plus commercial and contractual terms, tie-ups, existing commitments and the like.

WGT can't really comment on these aspects, but that is the general understanding of why Pebble Beach was not available last year for the WGT US Open competition and we got Oakmont (USGA Women's Open) instead. Wonderful to have Oakmont, of course.

The USGA championship zone on WGT does strongly suggest that we should see those US Open venues being made available for full play by the time the US Open goes to each of the courses. It does not directly promise this, however (EDIT: except for Congressional so far).

Seems I remember WGT did promise  to bring Congressional on line this spring, in both CTTH and Full 18.

I would also guess .. that since they signed an agreement with the R&A before last years "Open Champoinship" .... that this year we might even see Royal St. George ... the 2011 British Open site.    Just a guess ...

Not only does creating full 18 round courses have to do with signing agreements and getting the rights to use them.. it also has to do with setting up times to go out and literally take a ton of pictures of the course at multiple angles..

the way this game is created is by someone going out to the physical course and taking digital stills of each hole from different angles.. those images are then combined with actionscript and assigned parameters and variables and coded out to make up for all the different aspects and possible conditions..

..so as to your original question.. getting the CTTH courses avaiable in full 18 hole play would take wgt going back out to that course.. and taking entire new sets of stills and coding out the course all over which could take weeks if not months (and if im not mistaken i read somewhere while trying to find tips on improving my game that they do not plan on doing this)..

..as far as new courses go.. it can take weeks for them to go through this process.. and thats after the weeks it takes to get through all the red tape... therefore you just have to be patient and wait it out.. this isnt like other golf simluation/games where its a simply vector designer that can just take sample images and created a wired 3d layout of the course that resembles it naturally and add color...

Yes, for example as WGTicon suggested, a course like Wolf Creek presents insurmountable technical difficulties to map as a full course, see:

Wow Nick ... I bow to all of your knowledge about WGT and it's inner workings.   You've done a lot of homework in the 33 days since you started this account.    Took me about 8 months before I read enough in the forums to know how this all works .... unless of course you went back and read all of the old forums .... either way Kudo's.

Nick is right. It's impossible to convert from cttp to stroke. There are also many other legal, technical, and contractual issues that have to be addressed.

We want nothing more than to bring as many courses to you as possible. It's just a matter of the other things getting in line :)

I have alot of time on my hands during gameplay.. i prefer to play multiplayer rounds and am not picky as to what tier i will play with.. therefore i tend to run into alot of long drawn out games with hacks and amatuers and even pros alike.. and when i do i try to qualify for a survey.. if i dont.. i jump into the forums and just start reading..

there's no better way to learn about how to be competitive at a game than to read things other ppl say and observe and try to use those advantages...

Also i use to be tech support for Dell for 4 years.. (until they laid a bunch of people off like dell tends to do) and so i like finding out the technical side of things...
