please could you let me know when the golf courses that are closest to the hole will become available for stroke play games.

as there are some beautiful courses out there but only for closest to the hole comps.

      many thanks jaybethliverpool

Unfortunately, there is no correlation with CTTP course and Stroke courses. Only some of them that are now CTTP maybe available for stroke play later on.

I do not know when or which though.

And many of us would like to know why that is . If they can be played as closest to the hole or blitz, why can you not convert them to stroke. these four courses are getting very very boring to play over and over.

You can't just convert them. They would need to be started over with thousands of photographs, dozens of workers and many hours of correlation. Be patient my friend.

I don't know the exact reasons but few comes to mind.

    1. Contractual issues

    2. to shoot cttp may require 50-100 shots per hole to shoot stroke may require 10x the shots (this is simply a guess and I could be way wrong).

    3. sheer manpower. cttp courses can probably be made in 2-4 weeks (i don't know for sure) while stroke courses need easily 6 month.

those are just few reasons why:)

Well, I don't know exactly what kind of surveying and Digital Terrain Model process WGT uses, but the ones I work with (GPS, Total Station, Photogrammetry and Laser) are quite expensive - something even a truck full of Callaways can'y pay - and require plenty of work - put that with the photos and the physics engine and you have a hard job to do.

There are some courses, i.e. Wolf Creek, that would require a whoooole lot of surveying work to be fully digitized, because of the terrain characteristics.

Let's just be patient. Play some Blitz and Alternate Shot, have fun with your friends and wait for Congressional, Olympic, Merion, Pinehurst #2 and, with a little luck, Augusta and Morro do Chapéu :)
