  Y Y Y do players do it to leave game on last hole just to protect their average its only a game are people so shallow to think it matters just *&^%$£" me off

  Personally, if players want to do that, it's their business, However, this has consequences of moving them faster in tiers; therefore, they will end up somewhere beyond their abilities.

  I wouldn't worry too much about others, let them play the way they like, within the rules

  My question for you is...why does this upset you.  If someone quits a game, it has no bearing at all on how you personally play the game.  I personally card every round, but if someone quits it doesn't affect me in the least.

  A bad round no longer makes your average go higher anymore anyway.

  Is this not true or am I missing something? (entirely possible)

  Dont think average is an issue after the new changes,bad games dont have an impact on your average score.

  Personally,i would think people quit out of frustration.

  Just playing the oakmont full 18 .Was 3 under par at front 9 and on back the usual,bogey after bogey.The game become so annoying to play with meter stutters and crazy winds,have to quit on 14 after an uncalled for double bogey.

  I have seen many people here objecting about not playing much on oakmont.I have yet to complete a match there when i dont face meter stutters and unrealistic winds every second hole.I dont find the course much difficult but the playing conditions there are absurd.

  You are correct, posting a bad score or leaving before you post a bad score will not aid nor hinder your average score. 

   

  Your average score is only determined by your best rounds.

  Actually it depends on how many rounds you have posted in your present tier. I'm not sure just how many rounds it is but when you first advance to the next tier bad rounds do affect your average. It is at least 50 rounds I think. After that bad rounds have no affect.

  So by only calculating your best rounds you have a chance of advancing faster that you might be ready for.  Sure it was implemented to reduce sandbagging, but everyone has a slump now and then.  SO if you happen to pull out a good round now and then between the mediocre ones. You are given the false reassurance that you are actually good at this and get rewarded by advancing to a higher tier. 

  Sounds fair. LOL

  I understand WGT's purpose in doin this; However, it then becomes difficult to truely determines someone's average...which makes it difficul when finding opponents in matchs...especially club vs club.  Only recording the best is not a true reflection.  THat's like if I took 10 test in a semester in a course and the teacher only counted the A's and B's but not the C's D's and F's.

  In the end, most of us will all become legends and for simply the purpose of protecting members averages who quit and can't take their average going  would like to see averages go up and down like they should.  Anyone else agree?
