DodgyPutter: So instead of cashing them in at that rate some may buy equipment for others, and get in return say half the usual price in cash, and still make a tidy profit compared compared to what wgt give.
That's exactly what MANY, MANY of the top earners do. And a couple actually make their living this way!!!.
Look at the top 10/20/50 money leaders. If they're not verified (some aren't because of their country or state) the credits are essentially worthless. The other players not verified aren't because they make a KILLING, and use the excuse "I'm not giving WGT my personal info..which is BS because WGT doesn't ask for ANYTHING that can come back and bite you, ever.
Now, even several verified players have begun making money on the black market. The going rate is .50 on the 1.00. Some offer better deals than that. One player has made as much as $5,000.00 in one month!!
I've mentioned this in the past and am super-over-the-top glad that WGT/TopGolf has gotten some brains and now see how much money they lose on every one of these deals on a daily basis.
Someone said it goes to the Pro Shop anyway, and that's dumb. WGT/TopGolf is a business, and gifting things doesn't benefit them any. It hurts them, actually.
I'm a proponent of limiting gifting to a set amount over a set time period. It will stop all of this "theft" from WGT's coffers.
Even though 165,000 ($1,650.00) is a ridiculous amount to pay/swap for a $250.00 Amazon card, it's still something for a game that can be essentially free to play.
I hope this WGT trend continues. It'll weed out many of the people who need weeded out.
Sorry for your friend Gary (woodo) and I hope it's not one I am friends with, too, but people just need to do what their supposed to do. I also hope WGT got it right. Worse than stealing from a company or person, is punishing an innocent one.
