    GoodyChamp:

    YankeeJim:

Each new level is 1000 points higher than what it took to get to the last level.

Actually it ain't, the increments are a bit progressive, e.g:

    80      209715

    81      222415

    82      237615

    83      255315

    84      275515

    85      298215

    Cheers, GC

Man thats alot of golf playing to get to that R11. If i play x amount of games per day, multiply that by the days, divide that by the number of beers needed during play. guess i better stock up on beer and get yancy's finger sock to keep my finger in shape.

I find the biggest benefit of it is the extra 5 yards of carry, it comes in really handy on Bethpage and Kiawah.

That's a different story, Peter. The R11 definitely trumps that one. Not by a ton but worth it.

    Cheers Chief.

Maybe I need to give the R11 more time but my initial thought is that the R9 L80 is better,

I would say don't trade in your R9 L80 immediately like I did.

Yes you need to give it more time, It is longer and much more accurate than the  L 80 280 yard R9 and with a slightly slower meter speed it is easier to hit if you have problems with a faster meter. If you are used to a faster meter you really have to pay close attention to the meter or you will find yourself clicking way too soon. The higher trajectory of the R11 will get you over things that the R9 would have hit into.

So was mine, Mike. I went back to the R9 right away and then after reading others' opinions I decided to try it again and be more committed to it. What Sting says is true but it is also very subtle. You need to play 5-10 rounds all over to begin to appreciate it. The carry is what makes the biggest difference, not the length. In fact, into headwinds it falls a little shorter but for the most part the higher loft gains you some advantage in places.

If I was a zillion points away from getting the R11 I would say the R9 is definitely an equal.
