All I can tell you is, my driving distance has gone up 2 yds and accuracy is up also since I bought the R11, and with over 1500 ranked rounds played it is not easy to change those #'s! Nothing else can touch it when hitting with a tailwind!

I had purchased the R9 8.0 just a bit before the R11 came out.  I wasn't sold on the R11 after playing with some of my fellow friends who had it.  However I got some credits from a few offers and chose to waste them on the R11.  At first I thought the R9 was longer, esp on shots into the wind but once I learned to adjust the ball spin on the R11, I noticed that I was just as long into a high wind, 5 to 10 yards longer into a light wind, 10 yards longer with a small wind and 15 longer with a higher wind.

I am sold on it and I don't even use the high end Callaway balls.

Use it with the Cal legend Z balls and you'll be spoiled.

I switched out my Cal Legend Z balls last night and used the Tour Gi3-D balls I had in my bag for a couple practice rounds on BP and Kiawah.

#1 BP - Only carried it 287 compared to the 303+ over the trees with full BS.

#2 BP - Using the draw shot aiming at center tree and hitting meter at first line it just about didn't carry past the rough on left side of the fairway.

#4 BP - I put it in the rough just past the bunker where I can normally carry that same spot with no problem. Not really an issue since it's a 3 shot hole anyway.

#5 BP - You can't cut NEAR as much off here to get down to around 75-80 yrds on the flat part. I only managed to land in about the middle of the hill and roll down to 100 or so I think it was.

#9 BP- Forget about carrying that bunker with the GI3s cause it's not gonna happen. Maybe with a strong tail wind but I was playing with low wind settings.

I could go on to tell you about Kiawah but I think you all get the idea. Kiawah probably has more areas where you need the extra carry over bunkers and waste areas.

I made the switch to the Gi3s to try them out because the Cal Legend Zs are so freaking expensive and only last about 27 to 36 holes. The problem is I'm spoiled with them. It would be extremely difficult for me to switch back and reconfigure almost every club excluding wedges since those seemed about right in line distance wise because of the roll out.

I know some of those distances don't sound like you gain much. But I'm way more accurate hitting an 8 or 9 iron instead of a 6 or 7 with the G10s. 10-15yrds makes a huge difference.

I think you're overthinking the ball thing. The Tour-SDs (GI-SD) keep up with the Callaways just fine off the tee. Certainly close enough to make the 22 credit price worth it.

FWIW, I can carry the trees on #1, hit the fairway dead center on 2 by missing around the trees, driver//wedge on 5 ain't happening (not sure how you do that) and I can carry that bunker  on 9 with as little as a 6 helping wind. All with the SD ball.

$.50 to make a call today Jim.  I left my cell phone at home the other day and had to use a pay phone and it was two quarters, unfortunately due to using a cell phone for many years, I of course could not remember the number of the person I was trying to call.

Correct. You can carry the trees on 1 and be dead center in the FW on 2 (after roll out).

I tried to carry the bunker on 9 with a 3mph helping wind. Full bs dinged and landed in the deep rough just left of the bunker about 3/4 the way. Same conditions with the Cal it would have left me about 135-145 approach.

I didn't say these shots couldn't be pulled off with with the house balls. What I did say was I'd rather be hitting 8 or 9 iron instead of 6 or 7 iron.

That carry really came into play on Kiawah.

Tour GI-SD ball full BS the CARRY is 277. Wind is 3mph So I'll give it 280. Fair?

Tour SD ball full BS the CARRY is 280. Wind is at 4mph out of the right.

And the GI3-D ball I was using last night Full BS 2mph side wind only carries 270! wow no wonder.

Cal Legend Z full BS the CARRY is 295. Wind is headwind 2mph.

That 10-15 yrds carry the Cals give over Tour balls is worth it to me. That's the difference between hitting an 8 and 7 and many holes from the tips. I'd rather have 145 than 160 any day.

This is what I don't get. There is not a 10-15 yard carry difference between the 2. I'm outdriven by maybe 2-3 yards when against a Cally user and they land that close to each other too.  Maybe vs a free ball but not against an SD.
