All good advice. I don't want to spend any money on balls if they won't help. I'll use my available credits on a set of wedges.

In using other clubs and balls I'd like to know what affects a shot more. Too often I land a shot near the hole only to see it roll 20 yards past it. Which affects spin more? Spin numbers for the ball or the club? Or do I need both?

i like the slow meter in the hopes if I get closer to a ding I won't end up with balls hanging on the edge of the cup. A 50 foot putt within 2 feet of the cup is just as good as 3 foot putt that is an inch away from dropping. It can be frustrating.

Regarding spin, both have to work together, and "high trajectory" clubs certainly help. Premium balls alone won't do it!

On the green, you'd have to add 1-2 feet of extra power to avoid the hangers. Sometimes I think that this is an extra feature to make us lose shots and try more <tin foil hat off>

I think, and others can correct me if I'm wrong, that the ratings of the clubs are more important than the balls. The balls are sort of % boosters (i.e. a ball rated with "3" spin will give you 3% more spin), but the clubs are the predominant factor. I think a club with 3.0 spin and a 2.0 ball will give you more spin than 2.0 clubs with 3.0 balls, if this makes sense.

My personal opinion is that wedges are invaluable since these are the clubs you can really score with, especially on par 5s and saving shots around greens with pitches, flops, etc. so that's why I would upgrade those first before buying balls.

Karma has had its say about balls. For some strange reason I had to go buy a sleeve of yellow vapor balls for which I wasted 275 credits.

On about my sixth game on one hole I lost 2 of them. And a few games later the 3rd was gone.

But, I learned what a needed to know and still had enough left to invest in a wedge I had a free rental on to try out.

I may have enough left to get another wedge and a cheap sleeve of balls. I won't be using the fancy ones again unless some kind benefactor wants to gift me some.

    Live and learn...
