    Tezzastheman,

Maybe I'm blind and confused but his stats are far and away better than yours, he is about 1 point away from Legend and shares freely the experience of close to 1700 ranked rounds, whereas you have 200 ranked rounds.

I am unsure what would motivate you to make that remark?

    It's funny and cutting.

It depends what your definition of average is. There are so many legendss, TMs and masters. That most sit in the average of that lot.

A lot of the amateurs and hacks registered on here either join the better players or most likely give up. Especially if they have to start buying credits to improve.

I wonder how many of the many thousands of players registered play every week. I have 30 or so in my country club of 41 that I haven't seen on here in months.

As for these putters - I'm not happy.

I have the cheaper one, and it seems that I may have to upgrade to the other one. Why? Precision and forgiveness.

This tells me that I can hit 100% identical putts, yet my result is dependent on how much I am willing to pay.

Do I have that in a nutshell?

I can understand better drivers, better wedges, and even better putters. But we are talking about similar putters, in this case used by experienced WGTers playing the same shot.

Is it right that I hit a shot with my lesser of the two, and it just turns at the last to leave 3in. Yet, someone who plays the identical shot - line/speed drops in.

    That is not skill. IMHO.

Anyone want to convince me different. Remember we are not talking about comparing a crazy golf putter with the best putter available here - we are talking great putters in the hands of two experienced legends.

Don't know Peter. I play golf in real life and up to a year ago I had a run off the mill putter and my handicap was 25.2. Then I decided to buy a Kirk Currie IV putter for an amazing (to me) amount of cash. Now my handicap is 23.6, no much better, but I have some pride in getting that baby out of the bag!

It is all about what one wants; a kia and an audi will take you just the same places - one just in stile.

I can see that. Again I am not talking about chalk and cheese here. Im not talking about starter putter vs a decent credit pirchase. I am talking about two putters from the same stable, and two 100% identically hit shots. Why should the person willing to spend 1,300 credits have his putt go in while the other  'now chump' see a little turn at the death that leaves him with a shot down.

The shot and conditions are the same. I have either hit it correctly for what's right on that putt or I haven't. After all I am not putting with a tennis racket, I am putting with a very good paid for putter.

Not that I won't end up buying it. But it adds to the argument that your skill level is influencd by how much you are willing to pay.

Peter-It might help to look at what deviation actually is and how accuracy treats it. To exaggerate it just say, with the starter putter, you have a 1 in 5 chance of making a dinged putt. A better putter might give you a 3 in 5 chance with the same shot. The point is one is going to succeed more times than the other simply because it is better.

The analogy's pretty lame but hopefully you get the idea.

    I know.

But you are dealing with a tweaked version of the same putter. It is not right that on two identical 11 foot putts one goes in and the other doesn't + the deciding factor on which it is is that you have spent more.

Well DUH! Pay for the accuracy, it's what keeps WGT going and you/me  like the donkey with the carrot on a stick in front of his nose.  :-)
