I'm guilty of doing that but my chat is worth the wait.

no,  you can't do it respectfully.  However, review all! the other answers and discover why.   my nickle.

if you join a 90 second shot game  you give your opponent 90 seconds for his  shot,

what he does in that time its up to your opponent

Well said shovlovin....I need to enjoy it more for what is shared by playing and not what I think others should share while playing. Appreciate the assist in helping me see that everyone.

    Vangaurd2:
I am just curious if there exists an unwritten protocol I am unaware of

No more so than there is IRL when you're playing with other golfers. You don't talk when another golfer is shooting there and really shouldn't here. That's just respectful of the other player's focus. I'm a chatter sometimes but mostly in between others' shots. I'll wait until they hit before hitting enter. Not everybody is that way.

The problem is what WGT did to the in-game chat some time ago (in the same fashion they loused up the CDPs recently.) It used to be you could type away during screen changes without leaving the chat box. Now, as soon as the screen changes to another shot, you lose the chat box and have to put the cursor back in it to keep going. It makes it really hard to effectively have a conversation AND be respectful of another's turn.

    Me: “Hello, [golf course].”

Customer: “Yes, Do you guys sell cashews?”

Me: “As a matter of fact, we do.”

Customer: “So how much are they?”

    Me: “$2.40.”

Customer: “Okay, so can I get a tee time for 2:00?”

    Me: “Sure. How many people?”

    Customer: “Just me.”

Me: “Okay, and golf cart or walking?”

Customer: “Oh, I’m not golfing. I’m just coming to pick up the cashews!”

Isn't it basically considered to be disrespectful to type/talk during ones own shot clock? And for those that do it, should they be reminded that it wastes everybody's time and if so......how to do it respectfully?

vangaurd2 you can talk as much as you want when its your shot,

just be quiet when its someone elses shot

And, just wondering out loud...where'd you get that hitch in your swing?

Isn't multiplayer for the most part supposed to be fun. I don't care if someone is typing in the chat window while I'm getting ready to take my next shot. I'm not looking at or paying attention to that. I'm focused on the shot at hand. I'll reply after I take my shot so that the clock doesn't expire.
