The only legal way to convert them to $$ was/is? gift cards in the Pro Shop. They have a terrible exchange rate of 600-700 cr / 1 $.
Otherways, they sit on a mole hill of useless stuff.
Some buy Golden Putters, some buy every equipment available. Some sponsor CC tournaments with heavy numbers, some gift equipment to their friends and become accused of selling them (which is against the T&Cs). Some probably sell them credits.
