Using Wedges On Greens

  That's exactly what gamers think. The issue isn't whether it's right or wrong. Wedging putts makes a mockery of the game and speaks volumes about those that abuse this "right because it's in the rules" attitude.

  Still, it's a bit tacky (at best) to use a wedge in place of a putter, unless one is forced to do so.
  
  But I guess here's the question I have, are people using the wedge in place of the putter because it gives the person an extra wedge?

                              I have had to do this from the front left of 17 at Andy's to the back flag. It's a perfectly legal way to play it and the only way I can see to get it close from there.

                              I wouldn't do it all the way around because in 99% of situations the putter does a better job. However there are some spots where the double distance 64 is your only hope, so it's just common sense that you should use it.

  So Phil Mickelson abuses the rules, publicly, under TV scrunity? Nope, he's praised for using his outstanding wedge skills to his advantage!

  You may well limit your own actions, but I question your attitude to set limits to anyone who uses the official rules to his advantage.

  The only reason NOT to use a wedge on the green is NOT to destroy it with nasty divots IMHO (unless deemed neccessary), and that is irrelevant here - there are no virtual divots on the greens! And, these shots wouldn't be available in the program if WGT would consider them illegal - thus they are perfectly fine! You will well remember the former discussions about iron shots on the greens - WGT disabled spin but not the shots then!

  I'm not a gamer but a golfer, and I have used a different club on the real green (scarcely), I have putted from bunkers and other places off-green, I use the driver from FW (like Arnold and Bubba, e.g.) or rough with pleasure, whenever I see an advantage for me! It's part of the creativity which I enjoy in this game.

  I'm afraid that you have no argument, so you sidestep to moral judgement!

  Rejoice in the rules, I may sometimes use a wedge

  ....unlike a different game from the past which won't let me use anything but a putter on the green. I found myself on a green where it was impossible to drop the ball with a putter (the course designer made a horseshoe with fairway/rough in between) I was wishing I was playing WGT on that one.

  Go to your inventory and try to replace the putter by a wedge...

  I know there is no official rule that you cannot use a wedge on the green, Its still very annoying though.

  A rule in golf that should definitely be thrown from the game, like it is in our country club! No wedges on the greens :) 

  Its not actually showing your skill with the putter if you don't use it, except for when your 2 feet away. 99% Gimmes all day long. 

  I just don't like it myself and like i said stupid rule that should be thrown from the game. 

  Happy putting every-one or wedging :((

  In answer to your question NO.  Going by the way equipment works on WGT, the putter is a required club, that can only be filled with a putter.

  You could however carry 5 wedges, that is not counting PW.  Also you could carry 5 drivers if you had a mind to.

  You would not have a driver or 3 wood if using 5 wedges, or carry 4 and a driver/3 wood. Those 5 slots are available to carry what ever you want, except for an addition putter, you can only have 1.

  The wedge on the green is my specialty,double the distance plus a couple more yards(give or take up or down slope)Remember to measure the bounce at the halfway mark..this only works  over 30 feet or so,,its just like any other shot you encounter,,practice practice..Pebbs``
