    alosso:
I'm afraid that you have no argument,

There is no argument, it's an opinion.

You are the perfect example of what I refer to when talking about making a mockery of the game by abusing the right to make any shot you want just because the rules say you can.

    alosso:
I question your attitude to set limits to anyone who uses the official rules to his advantage.

Where did I advocate setting limits?

Hint: I didn't, never have. The shot is legal.

    alosso:
So Phil Mickelson abuses the rules, publicly, under TV scrunity

How many times have you seen him do it in any of the tournaments you've seen him play in? He wants his putter in his hands on the green, not a wedge. Putts win tournaments, not wedges. If he's using a wedge it's because of an unusual circumstance for him.  How many times have you ever seen any tour golfer use that shot in a professional event? Once in a blue moon, maybe.

Wedging putts regularly here without question makes a mockery of the game of golf. Still my opinion, like it or not.

I do what Phil does, and I do what Arnie did and Bubba does - so I hear you confirm that they make a mockery and abuse the rules.

    'nuff said.

I'll write your misunderstanding off to the language barrier as apparently you don't know what abuse means. In this case, it means taking advantage of the rulebook to indiscriminately use the wedge on the green. Phil doesn't, Arnie didn't and Bubba doesn't. They respect the game.  Get the point?

I clearly get your condescending point of "language barrier" - you avoid to reply to my arguments. And then you change your position - no "indiscriminately" before:

    YankeeJim:
Wedging putts makes a mockery of the game [...]

Makes your character look weak, to put it friendly.

If the shot is legal, as you concede, it's legal at the first and at the 1000th occasion. And how can you say I make a mockery of the game and Phil doesn't when he has used it more often than me?

I've never used a wedge on the green, here or in real life.

While it may be a legitimate shot and doesn't infringe any rules it does appear to be a shot professionals use only in very rare circumstances.  How many times have any of us actually seen or heard of it being done?

On the other hand there are players here who use it regularly when faced with a long putt.

It may not be against the rules but over using it gets very close to them in my opinion.

What argument?? How many times do you need to be told there is no argument. What you fail to understand is what "making a mockery of the game" means and how that remains my opinion.

Yes, wedging putts does just that, I agree.

If the wedge use gives a player on WGT an advantage, then the game is different from actual golf. (as all of the greats would be using a wedge to win, most likely, maybe in the future?)

If the PGA didn't want it they would change the rules, most likely.

Does Bubba play a tourny with unlimited rounds? Or would that be crazy?

    Opinions. Rules.

What is really nuts is that people on WGT get mad when a player doesn't use a putter. But that's an opinion. But rules are rules.

Well PGA tour players do use wedges on greens but I've never seen anyone play a 'full' shot from 11 yds..

I think I do in general, but you are incomprehensible.

    EOD

I will continue to enjoy the creativity of every shot that I can imagine, but I'm afraid that you will have to go on playing your blinkered golf.

    Have fun!
