I guess it's just a nicer way of saying immigrant Paul.  Like calling a spade a soil inverting device.

I may have given the opposite impression but I'm really not fussed how someone chooses to putt, those using a wedge aren't trying to say it's better or that we should all be doing it.  It just ain't my thing but that don't make it wrong.

I really like the way Robert compared it to wearing a tux on the beach though  : ))

Why are Brits living abroad called ex-pats?

I've taken it from some Brits who chose to take the name for themselves. Only difference in my mind may be that ex-pats may have a stronger bond to their own country(?)

What you fail to understand is what "making a mockery of the game" means and how that remains my opinion.

I think I do in general, but you are incomprehensible.

    EOD

I will continue to enjoy the creativity of every shot that I can imagine, but I'm afraid that you will have to go on playing your blinkered golf.

    Have fun!

Why do you most always have to inflame many WGT forums?

I don't visit the forums  much ( at times too irritating to read)

It seems Alosso that you go out of your way  to be a thorn in the  side of people that you put in your cross hairs.

Try talking to people and not at them.

You'll be amazed at how much more can be accomplished

    To the issue at hand.

I always putt from anywhere on the green .Saying that if wgt allows it .. Oh well.

But I'd like to see a small surcharge for those who use a wedge on the green.....

A donation to the greens keeper.

    Do I? (*)

I wasn't the one starting to become personal:

    YankeeJim:
You are the perfect example of what I refer to when talking about making a mockery of the game by abusing the right to make any shot you want just because the rules say you can.

This guy accused me of "making a mockery" and "abuse" - without even knowing my habits. My arguments were then ignored,

    YankeeJim:
    There is no argument,

as well as the well-known fact that I am a golfer IRL. All this with a touch of condescending arrogance

    YankeeJim:
I'll write your misunderstanding off to the language barrier

now you tell me who inflamed the talk?

(*) Some sh*tty double negative generalisation of yours - low level discussion style from the start

(I'm off to a mostly offline weekend)

FFS, alosso, Allie nailed it. You constantly misinterpret what people say and then try to beat it to death over and over. You managed to turn an opinion into a personal insult and drove this thread right off a cliff with your misunderstanding.

    Give it up.

Allie, I agree with you that I don't like coming to the forum much just for this very thing.  The last time I was here some of these characters here went on and on for over 133 pages (last time I saw it) over someone cheating and WGT monitoring ding meter crap.  I just can't believe that this issue has even gone this far.  Before you know it.... this thread will be 133 pages of the same thing.  Why doesn't everyone take a break and go play some golf?  You have to be tired.  Those of you that use wedges....fine.  Go use them and have fun.  Those that think it is beneath you or it will make you a gamer (what ever that means)?  Please use your putters to your heart's content and have some fun.  If you find yourselves on the same course together, just check out the menu button and start another round.  This is supposed to be fun guys and gals.  I can't play either the RLG or WGT worth a crap and have sparingly come in here to get tips from you experts.  More often than not I run into this stuff.  So much for game tips from experts.  lol.  No wonder everyone tells me to stay out of the forums.  That is just my opinion.

Thanks for your mindful answer. A lot more intelligent than the insults above.

    You're very welcome.

I guess the overall point is that the wedge is not consistently used as a putter in real life. At some point, the reasons why become a bit irrelevant. It's just the way the game is typically played. But in a game such as this, some of the excuses have less weight as you note (for example, potential damage to the green).

Nevertheless, the point does remain: it's a gamer's move to only use the wedge and not the putter. That is to say, it doesn't happen in real life but happens in the game. So in my opinion, that point holds. It's definitional.

The fact is that if IRL Jack or Bobby etc. mastered only using the wedge on greens we'd all soon follow suit and mock the people using putters.  Masses are fickle and they follow the leader, esp. when they dare step out of the box.

Edison fought Tesla on A/C and it was only after he electrocuted several animals in demonstrations (to say that Tesla's A/C was a bad direction) that everyone finally adapted to the better, uncommon, advancement.
