Hello all and first i thank you wgt for the great game you brought us.

Now to the subject, what do i mean a better meter implementation?

I mean adding a scale in the meter meaning a better chance for players to (drive, putt, clip etc..) to be as expected - or computed. Because when i want to take a shot etc. a putt at 36 feet and my meter is at 60 is very difficult to get a precise read on the meter.
And if you do that  let the players decide if they want a scale in meter, as an optional setting. That's all i wanted to suggest i hope you do implement it and if you do you will improve our game much better.

But please consider the following question, what about improvements, and i don't mean specifics all kinds  of, i know it sounds like someone wants to play chess and not golf but as it seems v.golf stays simple enough for me to just pick the power calculate the lie the peek, wind .. etc. release the mouse and pick the angle...  Well i guess you all have a point, the virtual golf is as it is "GREAT" no doubt about that either. Now lets get back into the game !

Well if you post it here you are asking for peoples opinion. Nothing against you my friend the meter is an issue that has been beaten to death daily on the boards. So, the pun about metaphor about beating a dead horse....

    LOL!

Sarge. He is not talking about meter skips and stutters but rather having the meter marked with either feet or a percentage. But as many people have said we can do that with tape and a ruler.

My post also implies that if and only if  this implementation takes place "Also have the meter scale as an option for players".

Ohh My Bad, well WGT does not offer this but you can download the freeware version of WGT Caddy or uprade to the pay version which offers more options. It is an overlay for the meter. I tried it but thought it was more of a hassle than it was worth. Not sure about the pay version though. GL

My opinion is that many folks attempt to make this game too scientific.  Golf after all is a skill game with a lot of feel to it.  If you make everything cut and dried, it will actually diminish the game.  IRL when you are standing over a shot, you don't have the benefit of any meters.  The game is already more exact than real life when you consider the slopes shown on the green and the precise amount of wind and elevation shown.  I like things just fine the way they are, no disrespect intended.

Well, I'm with Cle. Who wants to 'dial up' specific shots? That would make it mechanical. So why not set the game on autopilot and just sit back and watch? Without a skill element the game is pointless.

There are some legitimate methods for gauging shot strength built into the game, like avatar movements.

I checked out the so-called WGT Caddy link and to me it looks like a cheat pure and simple. No way.
