Random Number Generators are in slot machines , Not WGT ...................

Now, Now, Now, you just burst the OP's bubble.  He thought he had the perfect explaination as to why his game is bad.

Ironically, he's not that far off from the way he is thinking. IDK if random generator is the right way to phrase it but to understand how this game uses deviation, forgiveness and precision you would have to concede that there is a certain inherent randomness in the process.

That also happens to be how this game approaches realism in that swinging a golf club IRL is also subject to random errors-hips opening too early, wrist snap off, etc. It's why it's really hard to replicate a result consistently. Same here.

Every shot you take here is turned into a mathematical equation with multiple variables. It's the only thing a computer understands-numbers. I totally think that a random number generator is used for some of those variables, it's the only way a non-thinking device can make up numbers.

But it could also use an imputation approach, in much the same way missing data are filled in with a dataset. One takes the other variables and fills in the missing data. That means the missing data are not filled in randomly; the missing data are determined by the other variables.

Well, the Frisian Ballflight Investigation (FBI) found out: the WGT random number generator (golf-RaNGe) does realy exist, but isn`t allways working. It switches between on- and off-modus. An example: Let´s say, I play a bad round: Then the RaNGe has caused that. Otherwise another example: Let´s say, I play a good round: That is the result of my skills then. And that`s the one and only logical truth.

Random implies that if you hit a bad shot it can go into the hole or if you hit a perfect shot it could go out of bounds , That is not the case , However you are right about the numbers , Everything is a number to a computer , Clubs have numbers , Balls have numbers , How hard you hit it , ETC.   All numbers .  Does the computer program decide if the ball will go in the hole ? Yes sometimes , Based on the numbers , In other words , If you hit a good shot the computer program will sometimes take over , The camera will pan out and the ball goes in , That is because you hit a good shot not because of a random number generator . On the other hand you might hit a good shot and it falls short , Just like in real life , There are variables ...

The program doesn't decide anything, the numbers are empirical. There is no AI working here, it's 100% a numbers game. Random doesn't apply to the overall result, it's just part of the computation getting there.

And why do you suppose this is?  If a piece of equipment has a range of values that determines its effectiveness, who picks the number for the shot you just made? I reckon the number generator had something to do with it.

I must agree with that: It`s a question of numbers. That`s the other one and only logical truth: The number of Whiskys I had on one day seem to change the algorythms of the Random Number Generator. I will try that out the next days and then I will post my new one and only truth investigation results about the RaNGe.

fmagnets will tell you that it's not a random numbers game, but a game that requires a mathematical mind and an understanding of gaming design.  He has an ownership/understanding of both plus a unique ability to see and envision shots (play him in UELs and you'll see what I'm saying).  Mags also uses different balls on different courses (now coming to that realization on how it improves your game is a bit peculiar but Mags is Mags...he thinks in another dimension...he's extremely cerebral).

As for me...I play 'em as I see 'em just as I do on my RL play.  Hence...I'm not making a living playing golf.

Enjoy the game and stop blaming RNGs for your misfires.  The game is intriguing to say the least.

I concur...alcohol intake does in fact change the game's algorithm...AND...sometimes for the better.

    RenoRick:

Is the random number generator in this game also used to determine the outcome of shots and whether or not the putt will be true to the indicated metrics and if the indicated wind speed will actually be a determination in the path and/or distance of the shot?

I just tried to generate some random numbers but I think I got it wrong.  The result I got was:

    01001100 01100101 01100001 01110010 01101110 00100000 01110100 01101111 00100000 01110000 01101100 01100001 01111001 00100000 01110000 01110010 01101111 01110000 01100101 01110010 01101100 01111001 00100000 01101001 01100100 01101001 01101111 01110100

    Strange.

The best way to play this game, IMO.  :-)
