I am a bit confused with the gameplay, I would think that as you progress and you become better and spend money buying new gear your clubs will get easier but it is the other way around, the further you advance and the more money you spend the faster the meters get.

I've tried buying two putters, and are back at just using my beginner putter as it is waaaaay more accurate due to the fact that the meter is almost at 0. Some of the putters get sold with the same meter reading but when you play it it is waaaay faster than advertised.

Not sure I understand the logic behind, the faster meters

Higher level clubs offer you much more control. Therefore, they are harder. The things you can do with high end wedges, will seem magical compared to free ones. Obviously, they are harder to control.

Maybe they can release a video to explain this but to put it simply, I hit 10/10 excellent perfect shots with my beginner putter and 0/10 with the Spider or the Ping avante or something. So if you struggle putting try using your beginner putter and save your money for clubs and drivers and balls, putters is not worth it.

Why not make everyone pay? If the game is all that?

The spider putter is the worst putter on here. Look toward the Daytona or redwood.

    Pet subject.

I am 105.76% with you on the beginner putter. That slow and refined march of the meter more than adequately makes up for the perceived inadequecies that the brainwashed will illuminate voiciferously for you.The adverts for the expensive money pit putters do in fact, lie outrageously about the meter speed, sadly you do not find this out until you pay the man. What they also fail to convey, and one supposes for good reason,is that the meter actually accelerates towards the ding which makes it almost impossible to putt with your eyes shut,as I am able to do with the beginner.

The only good thing about any of the paid for putters is that you can use them in the forums to stir up a welter of umbraged golfers who fell for the misleading advertisements and actually paid for something they already had.

Lizzie, with all due respect, if you were averaging 21/22 putts a round with your starter putter, I would gladly support your notion that it is an equal to the Rossa or Redwood.

Not that I average 21/22 putts per round, I did however average pretty much what you do just now prior to buying the Rossa. Now I average 5 putts less. Not an exact science or foolproof answer, I grant you, however, I would wager a pound to a penny that your putting would improve were you to switch.

Not true at all. When you are able 2 ding they are worth it. Even with the rather fast meter of the Tour SD balls I manage 2 ding around 75% of my putts. I think it's all about putting a lot and get used 2 the rythm....

Respect Tiffer, and normally I would be more than pleased that a game great such as yourself would take the time to help and advise.

I do however, speak from my own experience, since I eventually gave in and bought the two top putters for my level, the rossa and the redwood I believe(Actually a legend friend gifted one of them)

My observations did not bear out my expectations, over a fairly long period of trials, and I found the aggravation of that overly fast meter overcame the accuracy to such a degree that I became morbidly unproductive.

What I did find though, was that for the very first 9 hole round, the fancy putters both netted balls in the cup with great frequency whatever I did with the aim marker(within reason). This led me to believe that indeed they were superior in that they made up for a bad read or a terrible over/under power.I thought I had found the secret of scoring regular 58's right there, and that that was how it was done, with a putter that simply would not allow a miss.

Time proved otherwise though, and after those two 9 hole rounds, the two putters helped me to miss more than ever before and frankly,I was underwhelmed but nevertheless continued to carry out the trials.

I have no clue or cares about putting averages, save to say I knew the subject would be raised,in fact,I do not understand all those numbers in my stats as having so very much relevance to how I enjoy the game, and somehow, seem to improve by the smallest of degrees each day.My conclusion therefore, was that I far preferred serenity to abject frenzy where my putting was concerned, and I sleep easier for not having to ungrit my teeths after an evening of anxiety with those fancy putters in my hands, virtually speaking.

In some ways,if it 'ain't broke, don't fix it,would seem to be a premise to live by here.

Thankyou for your input,I actually do appreciate it a lot.

Thank you all for your input, it is extremely valuable to me and my own sanity. I did really start to think that I am just doing something horribly wrong to not be able to hit these putters. Once I reach the 44+ level I will try the other putters but will probably rent them for a round and see.

Please understand that we all agree the gameplay is wonderful and it is a great game because it is so realistic. The problem is putts are not realistic to the real world. With Irons and Drivers you tend to overpower and slice and draw it, but not with putters.

With playing real golf you do not struggle to start your ball on the line you aim but will struggle twith the aim itself and the read of the green.

So the parameters I would go by to encourage purchase of putters are maybe to give you some advantage in making errors "forgiveness" but keep the meter consistent to the speed of the beginner putter. I also highly discourage the fact that the distance meters change per putter, rather keep it consistent say 30, 60, 150 but when you buy a new putter with more precision 15, 30 , 45, 60 etc. Making it all of the sudden be 25, 50, 100 confuse and frustrate the live out of me.

Anyway all that said it is a fantastic game where you can't advance without buying gear and WGT.com makes a fortune from that, I will probably just never buy a putter ever again :)
