The more money you spend the harder it gets???

  I know where you're coming from Lizzie. I too was absolutely hopeless with the Redwood and Ghost, after their initial stellar performances. They were much like the new manager arriving to save the football club from relegation, an initial boost before returning to true form within days.

  Both of the named putters have, as far as I am concerned, crazy meter speeds. Way too hot for my rapidly slowing reactions. The Rossa however, is a different animal altogether, akin to a leisurely punt along the Cam on a summers day. The Callaway balls make that journey all the sweeter, providing the strawberries and cream for the journey.

  Horses for courses I suppose. The "young team" with a verve for fast living, Silverstone and Just For Men, opt for the Redwood. Those of us with a hand cranked Model T, grey hair and Beta Blockers, swear by the Rossa.

  Isis and dreamy spires for me,with those "gules three lions passant guardant" of good old Oriel watching me safe from hallowed halls.

  IMHO... the best putter you can own.. the rossa.I tried the ghost putter for a week or so.... found it will punish you if you don't hit the ding... meter speed seemed inconsistent.

  The game justifies an update...

  So when I started this post I was quite annoyed with the speed of putters in general and swore that the beginner putter is the best. Once I moved to Tour Pro with the greens on Very Fast I quickly realized that nothing went into the hole anymore "dinged" or not. At this point I have been playing with Callaway balls already and decided to rent the Spider again. First round I played about -4 where with the Beginner putter on the Very Fast greens I was lucky to Par the course. I am currently playing with the Anser and to me it is the answer, the game is fun again, I am able to sink putts and get rewarded for the correct line. So if you experience the same issue I did I suggest getting the Callaway balls with a better putter. Will definetely try the next level putter at +44 but Answer is the highest I can go at the moment.

  TRUE TRUE TRUE, the more you spend, the more hooked you are. I.E. I can't quit now I have too much invested. Since making master, which by the way was a shock to me because it all happened at once, 66.04 avg, level 65, shot a 39 at SA and kept the game, boom Congrats you have reached Master tier, level 66 and my new avg was 78, twice my 39 posted game. Have spent many many hours and many many dollars to get back below a 70 avg. Check out my history as a tour pro vs my master level. It is hard as hell to shoot a round under par. I will be 3 or 4 under par with 2 to 3 holes to go and it goes south. Doesn't matter what I do, it is going to happen. Please to the select few who always comment about just quit, stop complaining, blah blah blah, I know it is all part of the learning curve, but so is the comments, it's part of this game.

  Oh... renting ? They will work nicely, buy them and you ask yourself what happened. What happened was you just spent more money. Keep practicing.

  I'm not convinced the putters make a difference. I have owned pretty much all of them apart from the ghost. I think it is more to do with having played a lot of rounds and probably having had the same putt before.

  I have the daytona at the moment and I use it all the time, but the more you play (in my opinion) the better you become at judging how much to miss the ding (my style of putting) or aim left or right of the hole (mind you you still have to get the pace right)
