    That's pretty sweet!

I've been thinking about going back to GI Tour balls. These Callaway balls do not last near long enough for as much as I play.

I would say that's a good move. They are still 2 dots in spin and the yardage doesn't hurt. Your longer irons into the green will roll more but you can adapt to that. The best part?? You hit one in the drink and it costs you a buck. I hit one in the drink and it's 22 cents!  :-D

Loving them. Adds a whole new dimension to the game, and one that was missing - playing it long and spinning it back a little. Lots of close in bunker shots that always ran a bit too far post for a certain par save. Now a bit of experimenting.Play it long or safe past the hole and see it come back for a near tap in.

Playing with the SD balls. WGT may have cut their nose off to spite their face here. No need to buy Callaways - unless they reduce the price. Morally, they can't raise the price of the SDs without an uproar.

Plus a bit of top spin for a change.

    StrangeMagic:

    WGT,

First, glad to see progress with new equipment and now a Congressional CTTH with the full course soon to follow!

I do have a problem with the new Cleveland wedges however....me, being the eternal optimist, I immediately bought all 3. My problem is the Cleveland CG16 52degree (L74+) 115 yards...this is basically a pitching wedge and I cannot replace it in my G10 set that includes a G10 pitching wedge!  One cannot mix and match full sets on WGT as we can IRL !

So my point is; I bought 3 new wedges and really do not see using the 115 yd rated one....will this ever be addressed?

    Ty,

Could be that this is a forerunner to a Cleveland CG-16 iron set. And from my testing the CG-16 7 iron this past weekend, the Cg-16's are about 10 yards longer than most other clubs. Then the wedges would be the right length for that iron set. Just thinking.

What do you mean? IRL? And why only the 7?

Yes in real life. I registered online @ Cleveland's web site to be one of 250 people to test the CG-16 7 iron. I was selected and received it a little over 2 weeks ago and this past Sunday I played with it. It averaged 10 to12 yards longer than my Cobra 7 iron. Also it seems to be a little more forgiving on mishits and more accurate on well hit shots. A very good club and if the entire set plays like that it will be a great club set. Every one who registers is entered into a drawing to win a full set of CG-16's.  After I test it I am supposed to pass it to a friend and let him test it as well. The promotion is called play it forward.

as a mid iron.....the 7 iron especially ....on average is the most selected iron in the bag apparently because it serves a lot of purposes......as opposed to a 3 iron or 9 iron.

folks use a 7 iron for the 150yrd range shot......or to pitch and run from around the green and for a host of other tricky shots.

not all golfers take a full set of clubs round a course......many opt to take what are known as a 1/2 set comprising of a driver,3wood & 3,5,7,9 iron and putter.

    just sayin'

    tbr

Thanks for that , Sting. Now I know what to expect and it sure looks like that Cleveland set of irons is going to be here pretty soon. I would guess after the Open and the deluge of complaints about the difficulty of it that follows,  they will be available. LOL-just a bit of marketing silliness or genius.  :-)
