Does anybody have already experience with the new TaylorMade Red Spider Putter (L77+), yet? Or do you recommend one of the MAX Putters (Master, LVL80, or before)?

    Thanks for your answers :-)

Lvl 70 Versa is good.  It's marginally better than the new Red Spider albeit a little more expensive.

Putter is so new you probably won't get a lot of feedback, but the stats (save -.5 on balance) are spot on the level 70 Versa that has long been the gold standard of putters in that level range (and was my choice until I got the level 96 Versa). I see you've rented it; please give feedback.

Some say the lower Versa (L70) is better than the higher (L96). What do you think?

Well, I tried it some rounds yesterday and I have to say it's pretty precise if you hit the Ding. Had 2 very good rounds with it in Oakmont and Bethpage greens with it.

Can anybody say something about the Max-Putters within the 80's range?

Versa sounds interesting on LVL 70, also.

So Alosso's question is interesting, too :)

I've been using the Max Control Master+ putter for several months.  I went to it as I liked the variety of distance scales available.  This has allowed me to keep the power of my swing lower (usually 25% or less), leading to more dings.

I did find that when using the higher scales the ball would travel faster at first, which meant less time for any break to have an effect on the ball. So I had to adjust reading the breaks on some greens to allow for a flatter line of travel.

I would recommend renting it first before you buy it as your experience may very.  Hope this helps a bit.

    Hi Phred,

thanks for the good description and the hint.

I guess I will rent the one you use and the Versa also and give them both a try.

That with the distance scales is a big point and the thing that's interestening me on the Max ones :)
