    Greetings everyone!

This is Chad Nelson (aka MisterWGT). I’m the co-founder and president of WGT. I wanted to thank everyone for caring so much to post about this topic. It means a lot to us and we’re reading each and every comment closely.

Don’t worry, we haven’t lost our minds. We’re definitely focused on delivering you the best possible virtual golf experience!

I first want to assure you that WGT will continue to produce high-quality photographic courses and offer them free of charge. That’s what we’re all about. This year, we’ve already added Harbour Town and Hilversumsche closest-to-the-hole, as well as Congressional (full 18 in May) and Royal St Georges (full 18 in June) full-stroke courses.  Our relationship with the USGA and R&A is built around a goal to present these amazing and challenging courses to the widest global audience possible.

The new TruGolf courses are a new option to help address all the requests for more courses than WGT is able to produce on its own. The development of these courses is done by the TruGolf team and we’ve worked very closely to match the game experience, physics and equipment performance. We can now add TruGolf courses quickly and Cabo del Sol will be the first of several new courses in the coming months. Naturally, there will be improvements to the technology and aesthetics based on your feedback. For example, we’re not satisfied with the appearance of the sand and 2nd-cut rough but didn’t want that to hold-up making the courses available.

Because TruGolf courses are developed externally, WGT does need to charge a fee to play a TruGolf course. However, TruGolf has agreed not to charge for the closest-to-the-hole game, so WGT players can try and play any new TruGolf course for 0 credits and see what you think first.

It’s important to remember that like any business, we do need to pay the bills and our passionate and hard-working staff who all contribute to this product. We’re doing that primarily by offering optional virtual equipment upgrades and with sponsor advertising campaigns. We’re trying to work with sponsors that tie to the game, like Callaway, Cleveland, PING and TaylorMade, and brands that want to run virtual tournaments with great prizes, like Dove, Golf Digest, Ketel One, USGA and R&A. Your support of those sponsors is appreciated as it makes it possible for us to grow the business and invest in the game.

Hopefully, our long-time players have seen that we really do listen closely and make changes based on feedback, so we’ll continue doing that, and I sincerely hope you continue to enjoy the game. Please invite me to play a game (MisterWGT) next time we’re both online together.

    Cheers!

    - Chad

    Chad....

I've only been playing here around daily for 6 or 7 months and have spent close to $1000 (your accounts dept can vouch for this). I could have gone to TWO for a lot less but chose WGT because of the graphics and the community we have here. Apart from the ball munching meter...it's a great game and I really enjoy the game.

For sure there will be a ton of folks unhappy about the green fees/ graphics etc and  I admit that no one is being forced to pay to play them.....but $1 for every 9 holes you play. I play a lot of golf (easily 8-10 hours a day). If I was to play Cabo Del Sol I'd be bankrupt in no time.

Why not just a monthly/yearly membership like TWO???

I'm thinking at least Dick Turpin wore a mask whilst he was robbing people.

At the end of the day it could be far worse.....i.e all courses could be pay to play.

Seems to me you plan is to add more TruGolf courses.    I do not understand why you would do this since 90% of your members do not like the idea of paying Green Fees.
    Bad move!

    $1000   WOW.

I feel bad having spent about $300 in the same time frame.

fair play for fronting up, chad ....

as i have said before, you guys have a great product but a unique propensity to shoot yourselves in the foot through ill conceived and hamfisted updates.

if it aint broke, dont fix it (the quality of the set up/graphics)

and if it is broke, fix it. (five mins on the forums will tell you what they are)

Can I suggest that when you do more courses, do more than 2 pin placements as well. You spend all that money doing a course and done all the hard work , so why not invest a few more bucks to further enhance the product.

What's all the fuss?  I consider it a privilege to be able to spend a dollar for 9 holes of virtual golf.  An honor to spend a buck on a ball that lasts for twenty minutes if it isn't metered OB.  Ecstatic to spend a couple days pay on a set of clubs.  Am delighted when my friends get disconnected on the first hole.  But, hey, that's just me.  I also like sitting on anthills and scratching myself with a corkscrew.

i can see the business end of why you did what you did, makes short term sense, but, as is so commen today in the depressed economy, businesses will often take too great of an advantage of the public. especially a world wide endevour such as yours.  a lot of fly by nights in the online world.  most replies i read are not in agreement with your stated position.  i think that many have been "bitten" before and always look for the wolfe in the closet.  doing something istead of nothing should be appreciated for what it is!, not what it was intended to be.  my nickel.

Forgive me, Mr. Nelson, if I take but only a small part of what you have written to question you....  you write:

These two statements are in direct contradiction to each other.

If you need to pay the bills and your passionate staff who all contribute to this product, why are the courses developed externally?  And if they are developed externally, why do you need to pay your staff for them?

Unless the money you make from the TruCartoon golf is NOT going to your staff...?

I wonder where it IS going?  Straight back to TruCartoon?  All of it?

That makes no sense.  Maybe it's just me.  I'm dense sometimes.

you're just being dense dude. :)

TruGolf's courses are developed externally....like Cabo Del Sol

WGT still have their own staff to develop their own courses etc.....like Congressional for instance.
