If this person had innocent intentions, why would he/she not come forward and discuss it? A few nice clues pointing towards the identity of this person would be nice.

Yup, no explanations, just threats to me.  The hole only gets deeper.

I think this discussion is about nothing. The person clearly said (s)he wanted to examine the software from a technical point of view, just like Marioh said he tests viruses on his computers.

So, this looks to me like a storm in a teacup, and no action on WGT's part is needed, I believe.

Use or distribute "auto" software programs, "macro" software programs or other "cheat utility" software program or applications.

Passing back & forth of this link to these types of programs should never be posted on a wgt wall & absolutely no one has the right to "test" them out on this site.  Just knowing people want to see how it could work or try it out on this site is very disturbing   The discussion of all this posted on wgt walls back in June should've been done privately on emails & none of this should ever be tested out on wgts meters. No one has the right to do so but wgt themselves.

Well, integrity is at issue here.  We aren't talking about some free download that someone wanted to just 'try out'. This software was for sale, so it's more than just idle curiousity to go through with buying it.  Add to this the fact that this act was concealed and later denied, and you get a rather sketchy picture of character. I'm not likely to give the benefit of the doubt to such a person.

The issue here is not what WGT should do. They decide that stuff on their own without our opinions.   It is about what we, the players, think about it.  It's about taking responsibility for ones actions, and dealing with the consequences of those actions.  It's obviously a relevant issue here at WGT,  therefore the discussion is not about 'nothing'.  Even the appearance of impropriety is significant enough to talk about.

.....(As an aside.. Lysti, could you please try to edit  your last post.. something happened in the structure there that has tossed every subsequent reply off to the side... Not sure, but I think your 'cut and paste' did a number on the formating. Peace! )     =)

Well, the title of this thread is What would you do? Under the Communist regime, people who reported private conversations to official authorities were called denunciants and were universally despised by common people. I'm not saying that's what happened here, please don't take offence! It made me think of that phenomenon nevertheless.

From the published excerpt it looks obvious to me that a highly respected member of this community, professionally associated with the IT field, decided (s)he'd like to examine said software from a technical point of view, and confided to you (s)he'd like to do so. The transaction never actually occurred, however. I therefore don't understand why any of this should be discussed in a public forum. But to answer Tibbets's question, What would you do?, if I objected to the intention as strongly as Tibbets does, I'd simply discuss it privately with the person, expressing my misgivings about such intentions. Based on further feedback from the person, I'd then decide what to do next. Whether such private clarification of positions happened or not, I have no idea; Tibbets's opening post in this thread is a one-liner.

My suggestion: let's forget about this all & move on. Both persons concerned are wonderful members of this community & it would be a sad thing to see any of them go. Everyone is now forewarned that even attempting to buy illicit software may cause heavy commotion, and we might perhaps leave it at that.

    Fatterson,

Now this is getting really funny.  LOL at the communist regime being brought into this. And you said you had no idea if clarification took place (apparently it was denied) . But you got me laughing the hardest at lets forget about this & move on (only because i've seen you in the forums countless times telling people how opinions count in here) & they could never get you to refrain from commenting further on any subject.  If only we knew how many players really use this software (the numbers are probably staggering) maybe more people would be concerned about this.

Yes, Lysti... thank you from the heart of my bottom...

Speaking of bottoms... Hypocrite, thy name is Faterson.  "Let's forget about this all & move on"?  You ~have~ to be kidding me.  The one individual on these forums who can ride the most mundane topic deep into the earth wants to gloss over an issue like this?  The one individual who can write 12-paragraph forum posts complaining that he can't get an email response to a third party thread?  The same person who can find game/forum deficiencies every 20 minutes, waxing eloquently on how much better the game can be if only the perceived shortcomings were alleviated?

The same person thinks "cheating software" should be overlooked?

This can only lead to an alarming conclusion....

"The lady doth protest too much, methinks.".... I am sure you understand the reference in this instance.
