Me, too, liked to play Oakmont, and I know of better ways to deal with customers. Nevertheless, those shouting "They owe us!" don't know the business basics and haven't learned anything from the past.

In "without notice" the mission of this tribe is captured perfectly...

While I fully support AB and would love to see Oakmont make a return I fear it's not going to happen.

We'll probably never really find out what actually happen to cause the sad removal of the course but it's very likely a one way street.  A great shame as it was a truly wonderful course.

The way WGT went about it is about as bad as customer support can get though.  Having Icon casually mention it in an update post is beyond not giving a shite.  Nothing against Icon, he was undoubtedly told how much information he could pass along and probably threatened with castration if he were to divulge any more.

I hate to say it but apart from the old back door I really think we've lost Oakmont forever.

    @ AB

No, I am seriously not joking. While I agree the loss of Oakmont lessens the overall enjoyment that can be derived from the game, I strongly feel the loss of the end of game chat feature exceeds the loss of one venue. Beyond the basics of whacking a few balls around, golf is supposed to be a social experience, otherwise, just play solo blitz, or IRL schedule tee times for one. I stand by my statement that our single biggest loss has been end of game chat.

    Doc :(

Fair enough. I thought you were saying the opposite. That you'd rather it not have been added.

I haven't played so I didn't notice we lost that feature. Still would rather have Oak then that 10 fold.

Trust me, I'm fully aware we probably won't get Oak back. I understand sometimes deals cannot be made. My problem was with how the news was dealt. For those of us who have invested significant amounts of time to learn the game and put money towards game just to get a one sentence statement was a slap to the face.

You all have beaten the dead horse 100 times over. We know they didn't release the damn reason why we lost Oakmont. You don't say or do anything and guess what happens, nothing happens. This is out of principle I started thread...  I have encouraged actions in order to at least get an answer.

    Think Erin Hills...

Do any of us know the terms of the contract between WGT/TopGolf & Erin Hills?  Is it really any of our business?  To think we're owed any explanation as to why a course is no longer available is ridiculous.

We're not employees of WGT/TopGolf...we're merely consumers.  GM did away with Pontiac and Oldsmobile...do you the loyal owners of those brands wasn't pissed.  Do you think those brands are coming back?  Hey...business is business.  That's the bottom line.

Callaway is a player in the TopGolf biz...read up...

If you want to gripe...become a shareholder/investor and attend the annual meetings.  Sorry to say, but consumers are not a part of the ownership pool.

Can you still drive your Pontiac or Oldsmobile after they went away?

For the last time we know they didn't give us the damn reason. But giving us the news with a one line sentence wasn't right considering how much some of us have put into game and how important of a course Oakmont is to the game of golf forget online golf... It was a massive blow and we were shown the finger basically with how news was dealt.

Erin Hills is an embarassement of an addition to wgt. It's easier than bethpage. Certainly doesn't make up for the loss of Oakmont.

    It's about the principle

    You want answers?

Son, we live in a world that has golf courses, and those courses have to be delivered by men employed by WGT. Who's gonna do it? You?

They have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for the loss of Oakmont, and you curse WGT. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what they know. That Oakmont’s loss, while tragic, probably saved courses. And the moderators’ existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves courses.

You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want them making that decision, you need them deciding the fate of courses. They use words like VEM, meter, and game play. They use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline.

WGT has neither the time nor the inclination to explain themselves to users who practice and play under the blanket of the very game that they provide, and then questions the manner in which they provide it. WGT would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, they suggest you pick up a computer and develop a product. Either way, they don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to.

Pretty obvious robert, thanks for telling me and others what we already knew wgt thought of us. Hit the nail on head! lol
You matched the exact tone of their arrogance if they were to say it to our face.
