What about Bethpage #5? I have only birdied this once in all my time here.

I have an eagle on BP #15, and Oakmont #9 a birdie (strong wind against)

hmmm has to be oak 9th.. its still possible to birdie with out chipping in but u need the right wind or green speed... where as beth 15 can b birdied with head tail or cross wind so the hardest hole has to b oak 9th

St. A. #8, (front pin) with tailwind is almost impossible to get a birdie, unless you get a flag stop, I did hole out once with a crossing headwind. Oak #9 gets my overall vote.

IMO Bethpage #15 is tougher than Oakmont #9. Oakmont #9 is difficult, but only brutal when playing from the backmost tees. Bethpage #15 is brutal on any tee except for the amateur tees.

Hole 15 at BPB can be played well and par isn't that tough.  The 9th at Oakmont is a very difficult hole probably as tough as any on the site.

It also somewhat depends if you mean most difficult to birdie or scoring average.  I bet that the 17th at Kiawah has a tough scoring average as does the 17th at STA.

    JaLaBar:

Philspace:  Maybe it will change when I get longer off the tee, but On BPB #15, I am often playing a 5 iron or lower into that green.  When I land a 5 iron anywhere on that green from the fairway, it runs to the back of the green, full backspin or no.  Because normally a 7 would cover the distance, but I have to play a 5 to get up the hill, and it hits the green so hot it runs no matter what.

You want the ball to hit the left low corner of the green, even with a long iron this should work. If you hit short you still have a standard pitch or punch within 1ft to the pin and a putt for par. If you hit long you'll be in trouble, but once you have practiced the shot the hole isn't that evil anymore.

Is the 17th at Kiawah the same line in from the legend tees as it is from master tees?  I find it so much easier than when I played as tour pro, there's more green to work with.

I don't remember the master tees there.  From the Legend tees it is usually a 3 iron or 3 wood for me and you have to play it pretty close to the right side of the green to get close.  It isn't a really hard hole for me if I play safe and a little long but birdies are tough and a mishit gets you in the water or trap, not much lay up room.

Again I think the hardest hole is the one that plays the most over par and I bet that this hole is pretty close along with 17th at St Andrews, 15th at BPP and 9th at Oakmont.

Oakmont #9 because you can't go at the pin. If you try and end up 60'  away on the green it is almost impossible to 2 putt. I go for the pin on BP #15 and almost always get par, if I can keep it below the cup I can get a bird once in awhile.
