A nice surprise in this update are these new Taylor Made Burner irons. I never like an update without there being something new to buy :^)

The extra 5 yards on the 3 iron taking it to 220 yards is very handy to have and the increase of 10 yards on the pitching wedge is a great advantage also.

Other than that they seem to play very much like the i15s, in terms of meter speed, too early to say just whether there is the added spin quoted in the pro shop graphic.

I just played 3 hole practice, maxing out on the holes. Very good Irons, had a 240 yrd shot on the 5th St.A, 12mph tailwind... 3 iron(220) - went 233 yds. The i15 iron would have gone 270+ yds with that wind after skipping on the green...lol.

meter speed might be a bit faster than the the i15s. Still too early, but I think they are much better than the i15's. Check em out in real game tmorrow.

    Cheers

    It's not. it's slower than i15's but a hair faster than g10's.

The accuracy trumps the i15s. These are fabulous clubs and the 3 CGs go nicely with them. You would have to revamp your short game a bit if you go this way because of not having a 64 degree wedge but with  the way the CGs pitch, flop and chip it isn't much of a learning curve.

I found that pushing these clubs with topspin works really well instead of choking down with back spin. The accuracy is what impresses me the most. Definitely a high powered club.

@Icon-As you use the Raptures and score as well as you do have you ever gotten serious with the better clubs?

52W punch shot seems enough to save the short wedge in the bag. As to the speed of the new irons, it feels similar to R11 3 wood or cleveland wedges.. Edit: no sorry faster (speaking from the 60% bunker)

After now playing a few rounds with these new clubs I can definitely say they are the business. The longer irons without doubt land softer on the greens than the i15s and their accuracy even when the ding is missed is excellent.

An added bonus is that with the meter speed being slower than the i15s, can't say I noticed tbh, I am now dinging a higher percentage of my lob wedges, instead of the usual hitting them early more often than not.

The new driver, wedges and irons are as close in meter speed harmony as I can remember in my 18 months here using all club combinations. Something that numerous players called out for in the past :^)

The new TM irons are wonderful. I was just getting used to my i15 irons, but with these new babies, the i15 are now pretty much redundant. The extra distance of the 3 iron is great. Some people will think an extra 5 yards over the i15's isn't much, but it is more than enough.

Having used them since purchasing them a few hours ago I think now I can see what an extra half dot of spin can do to Callaway balls. The long irons bite very nicely when landing on the green. Is it any coincidence that I've just shot my best ever round from the Legend tees at Kiawah with them. I'm looking forward to using them at Beth and Oak and firing them into the raised greens to see if the extra spin helps stop the ball quicker, especially into the 5th at Beth.
