Once again my stance is if your computer meets or exceeds the stated minimum requirement the meter should be smooth. There should be no need to be vigilant or jump through hoops to prevent meter issues.
I basically agree. But, there are other factors too. Such as; available bandwidth, stability of internet speed & ping latency, network resource allocation, wireless router signal strength, other programs running on the computer, etc.
Definitely agree with Andyson but I kind of disagree with MontgomeryScott (sorry).
The only factor should be your PC and what is running on it, there is no need at all for your PC to exchange information with the servers during the swing so bandwidth, latency etc should not come into it.
What actually happens (because for some reason WGT have chosen to keep exchanging information during the swing so it can update eg your Friends' status) is this -
In that half a second that is the difference between a good shot and a lost ball, my mate Dave goes offline, WGT send a packet to my PC to let it know, my PC reads it, changes Dave's dot from green to grey, plays a little sound and sends an acknowledgement back - hopefully bandwidth / latency etc are ok so there is only 0.1 second pause while it does this.
Personally I would prefer my PC not to do that and the fix is really really simple - ignore status changes during the swing. How long would that take to program ? 20 minutes ?
