I want to start a campaign to get WGT to give all players the option to completely turn off auto caddy or to have it on. Please add you name below if you agree!

I have been playing this game now since 2013, but this element of the game is really spoiling the experience for me. The auto caddy is neither accurate nor even logical in its "suggestions".

I had had some discussions with the members section of WGT and they state that auto caddy learns!!!!! If that is the case then I am sorry to use the term, it has the highest form of learning disability I have ever seen!!!!!!!!

Below are come of the "suggestions"!!!!!!!

    a) 47ft putt, 18" down, Slow Green, 150ft putter selected, required putter 50ft.

    b) 43ft putt, 14" up, Fast Green, 50ft putter selected, required putter 100ft.

    c) 18ft putt, 4" down, Fast Green, 50ft putter selected, required putter 25ft.

    d) 39ft putt, level elevation, Slow Green, 100ft selected, required putter 50ft.

    e) 38ft putt, 36" up, Slow Green, 150ft selected, required putter 100ft.

    f) 18ft putt, 3" up, Tournament Green, 100ft selected, required putter 50ft,

    g) 24ft putt, 2"up V Fast Green, 50ft selected, required putter 25ft.

    h) 35ft putt, 15" down, Tournament Green, 100ft selected, 50ft required.

    i) 32ft Putt, 15" up, Tournament Green, 100ft selected, required putter 50ft.

    j) 19ft putt, O elevation, V Fast Green, 100ft Selected, required putter 25ft.

    k) 14ft Putt, 7" up, Tournament Green, 50ft Selected, required putter 25ft.

    l) 16ft Putt, 8" down, Tournament Green, 100ft selected, required putter 25ft.

Note: L) is the reverse of (k).

As you can see there is no consistency in the selection of putters and in actual fact I think spoils the game for me!!

There is also no consistency in the type of shot selected on the short irons either, all I am asking for is the option to turn it off! If it can be done on the longer clubs then surely it can be done for all clubs!

Yes the caddy is a pain when putting . Totally agree it should be turned off fully but dont see it happening . Dont know why WGT wont or cant turn it off completly and they wont say one way or the other . So all we can do is make it a habit to double check whats going on when on or around the greens .

So always remember to never trust the caddy . As for its able to learn ability they were just pulling your leg . WGT is able to design A I software as the caddy proves that hands down .

I always trust my caddy. Sometimes he makes the wrong decision so i overrule him :-) Seriously though, i always check whats been selected out of habit. I wouldn't like it if they just turned it off. Choice is a good thing.

Bobby, you are responsible for your actions.....not the caddy.

The auto caddy will hand you a club (and scale), it is up to you to check to see if this is the right club for the shot.

First and foremost, you need to establish a pre-shot routine, firstly working out what club (or in the case of the putter) what scale is required and what is the best shot for that shot.

Looking quickly above, on L, you have negated to say that was from the fringe (hence the 100 foot scale) - this may have been better played as a pitch or chip.....

Personally, for some putts I prefer to take a larger scale than the caddy presents - for me it gives the illusion of more time to hit the ding.....so it is imperative I check all facets as I choose the shot and quick check just before I hit.

As pointed out, you can disable the caddy......but personally I think you have not spent the time learning the game....it is not served on a platter, it is up to you to do that.

Well said everyone.  To the OP, remember that the Caddy makes putter scale decisions based solely on the putt distance.  It does not take into account green speed, or slope.

I have my own caddy. The only female caddy at WGT. Her name is Miss Read.
