52 for the lead (-18). Winds are moderate (<12 mph) and it's not that tough a course (says he who has only played it once).

Qualifying definitely below 60 probably 58.

    57 at maximum, more likely a 56.

The Crystal Balls are in overdrive! It will be tough to make the cut for most mere mortals!

    SafariMan62:

Howdy folks..Well if everything goes according to Hoyle, by this time tomorrow we should have some early scores posted in the virtual open qualifying...

For me, according to results of the last group of tournaments such as the May Ketel cup debacle and the open qualifying at Congressional, I believe that you can switch around the names of the top 50 players that enter these things and can come up with a score of 54 by one of them.

Thats my early guess, what do you think..?  too high...too low?

Well you are right Safari. As of 3:30 pm today, one player has posted a 54. Congrats on your pick:)

Why should the lower tiers even try. At the time of this post there is already a 54 and two 55's and then the 56's.

I played the Open Qualifier 2 times and best is 62 so far but I will say that my putting in that round was horrible, 5 putts inside of 8 feet missed and 2 three putts from inside 20 feet, one meter caused the other just a bad second putt.  I think that this course will have a qualifying of 57 or 58 before it is done to get in.

Yeah, must be all that practice and thousands of rounds, and knowing every blade of grass and reading the wind perfectly, where to place the ball, etc. Come on people, the course just opened and a 54? Alot of luck or something else.............
