open scoring..Royal St Georges

  Wow,..to be insulted for asking a sincere question is mind boggling,..Maybe I used just 1 ball and realized I didn't have the time in a busy work day to play 72 balls.

  Quick answer, they shouldn't, that is until they are ready to compete at the highest level.  As a 9 hdcp, I know there is no way I could earn entry into the PGA US Open, much less be competitive.  Should I recieve a sponsor's exemption because it just isn't fair that I can't earn a spot through qualifying?  Laughable.

  Majors are meant to be won by the best of the best. (BB and AvLee last year, I finished 4th in both) If you can't come near those scores, then brush up your game and get better.

  I'm no where near in the same league as the top players but ... I'll tell you one thing --- I'm sure Bogey did use 72 balls.    I know I went about 60 myself.   There was one Saturday I played for 8 hours straight and on Congressional  and didn't make it past the 6th hole .... knowing if i didn't get off to a great start I would never break 60 (the back 9 is dam hard).   Eventually with some good putting I was able to shoot 59.

  A grind - yes but ... it made me learn the new clubs so well that when Royal St George came about ... i had my distances down and with the easy putting on that course shot a decent round the first day.    However I still played for 10 hours that day ... even though i only posted 4 scores.

  Greetings Ivietri,

  Thanks for spending the time to explain what all of this meant. I don't appreciate being labeled as "The Peanut Gallery" when all I wanted was clairity about 24 or 72 balls for a Quantifier round. I have a full time day job which keeps me too busy to sit at this game any longer then allowed.

  Again,..I'm very thankful you time to explain.

  That was a very good explanation by Ivietri. I work 12-13 days and when I get home, I only play 3 to 4 games a night before my head starts to hit the keyboard. Very good advice too.. the more games you play and if you learn from your mistakes and try not to do the same bad shots all the time, the better you will get.. well that's the theory, shame I don't listen to that...lol

  If I'm not mistaken, to qualify to enter the US open you have to be either a scratch golfer or 1 handicap. So, maybe WGT should not allow players with an average of 73+ to enter these things.

  I apologize for the peanut gallery comment, but truth be told the forums are riddled with non-sense about the scores.   I also have a full-time job, but a lot of spare time is spent on WGT after wife and kid go to bed.   So sorry there was no clarity with 24 sets, which means 24x3=72 balls, and the amount for RSG is climbing as well.

  Exactly....Last year i tried & tried but couldn't qualify for the 2 open tourneys, this year i'm a year better at playing and HAVE qualified for U.S, at prosess of qualifying for U.K. Last year I didn't go and shout CHEAT or complain that i didn't qualify, i was only a pro then (and only had access to pro equipment) so i put it down to the long tees which were scary at the time, and  i only missed out by a stroke with a rapture driver so i was determined to play better and improve so this year i can mix it with the best (hopefully)

  Well I'm in (for now) with a 59 where I missed 3-4 mid-range putts by inches.  I'm doubting that 59 stands up......just like my 61 didn't stand up at Congressional.  Too many good players out there with these conditions.

  And that 59 was a career best, to put how easy this course is (for those with top equipment).
