    No tricks. Just logic and a rudimentary knowledge of how numbers work.

    Where each letter is a digit, 0-9 with no repeats.

    The guy who showed it to me was astounded that I had it in under a minute.

    Sleeve to the first to post the correct answer.

    21978 x 4 = 87912

    p.s.  Please send the sleeve to WillyBigg and thanks very much for a fun challenge.

    Same ball I've used for years.

    He's still on my friends list. I'll verify by directing him to this thread. One thing I love about this whole WGT community is how it all comes together person to person, friend to friend.

    God Bless and once again Very Merry.

    Too easy...

    Not as easy as one might think

    Everyone is missing the same thing I missed

    OK Joe...I gave my first answer at 2:48am EST while in Tampa, FL and I was a wee bit tipsy on beer and wine.  Today I got back home to Atlanta after a short flight but a long stay in the Delta SkyClub...so...I crashed while watching TV with the wife.  Now it's 2:35am and I'm back on this in a better frame of mind.  Here goes...now I see more including the multiplication sign in the 4th row.  Whoa...I must have really been hammered when I first responded.  Good stuff!

    My take (which after reading all the posts aligns with Dan's first correct response)...

    Shoes = 10

    Cat = 3

    Whistle = 2

    Then you have to take into account the order of math when parentheses aren't present...division and multiplication before addition and subtraction.  So the last row becomes 10 + 3 x 2 which = 10 + (3 x2) which = 16

    That's my FINAL "while sober" ANSWER
