Mack Daddy VS Cleveland Wedges

  I have both set of wedges and only recently bought the MD's for the slower meter speed. The problem I see is that they have no spin for stopping the ball when using the pitch. I expected the ball to stop like the Cleveland's when using full B/S on the pitch. Both sets of wedges have the 4.5 spin rating and I use L90 Nike ball. Any help would be nice. Thanks in advance

  I also have both and do not like them because of the distances. I am just so used to the 60/80/100 spread of the Cleavland wedges. Spin should not be an issue because they both have 4.5 dots of spin however that 75 yard MD wedge plays completely differently especially around the greens than the Cleavland 60 yard. Right now I only have the MD 100 yard one in because it is the only one that fits in with my Cleavlands. The MD distances just make no sense to me at 75/100/115. The top iron sets have a PW that goes 120 anyway so a 115 yard club is not really needed. So what I am getting at is I don't think it is a spin issue I think it is a distance issue with them.

  I had the Cleveland wedges, and thought that the extra yardage of the macks would be more beneficial.   I also found out that the spin wasn't near as good as the clevelands.  Very disappointing,  but the extra yardage was great, so sorry I bought the macks, I now use the max wedges, with same stats as the macks, and I'm extremely happy with them.  Cost was alot less too!

  The Cleveland wedges are still the top wedges in the game . The main down fall of the Mack Daddys is that there is no 64 degree wedge . The yardages also as was pointed out make no sense especially the 115 yd. wedge . The pw at 120 yds makes that wedge useless for many .

  Even though the new Mack Daddy wedges have a 64 wedge doubt if they will be added to the game . Not sure if Top Golf feels the game is worth keeping the pro shop up to date . Been waiting though and we may get a surprise and may not . Since the Clevelands were the top wedges before the Macks it wont matter , as long as they remain in the pro shop .

Now with the 60 degree MD  I have had the ball roll anywhere from 3 to 6 yards depending on how power I  would use. When I bought the MD wedges I went to Kiawah Island course and went to the first green and mapped the 60 degree wedge and this is where I found it had no spin to stop the ball. All mapping was done in the pitch mode with full back spin.
  
  PS--I have been on moderation for 2 years so it might take a while for these posts to get through. lol

  I see your point and had the same issue but I thought some of it was due to my cheaper balls with only 2 dots spin but your top Nike ball acting the same way so that's not it.. So then I thought I will just learn the extra run out on them and that did not work well either.I think  a pitch said it would go 22 yards but I found it went about 30 with full back spin on Champ greens. I just think the 75 yard club is too long to be used for short pitches and chips around greens.  I tried the 50 yard Max wedge with them too. They are just awkward and I got tired of trying to make them work. They would be great if they were 60/80/100  or even 50/75/100 with the same specs.

  My answer is to not pitch!  I mean, why ever use that shot when you have the flop or full shots with whatever spin you need to stop any shot from around the green within a foot or closer (if you don't hole it out) on every wedge shot?

  I would say to not pitch is leaving a good  fun shot in the bag but then a level 200 player with a 49 average I would not say anything! Hats off to you and maybe I will revisit the Mack Daddy wedges with no pitch in mind.

  That's apples and oranges really. The 60 deg from both would have similar spin.

  The difference is really the lack of 64 deg for MDs.

  Very different from the Cleavlands in what they DON"T have.
