I did the same thing but I did so out of necessity because I started out with the AVG wedges and they were gapped a little further apart than normal but I discovered I could use the punch shot and it felt like I added 3 more clubs to my bag!  It is a great tool to use.

Not having good wedges when I started, I loved the flop shot.  It was my most reliable shot with the beginner wedges and I could often get up and down far more often than I could with the pitch shot.

    Exactly!

If a person is playing the starter wedges (as an example) or starter ball, they'd be foolish not to use the flop. No disagreement there at all.

Until I purchased great wedges and used decent balls (Callways, Level 33), I flopped everything. Heck, I think I once flopped my driver! ;-)

It surprised me a little that you play 3 different wedges (brands).

LOL, I know this is not the norm.  When the Mack Daddy wedges came out, I definitely preferred the 100 yd wedge over the Calloway that I had in my bag, so I made that switch.

I assumed that I would replace the 80 yard Calloway with the 75 yard Mack Daddy (and then have 50, 75, and 100 increments for my wedges), but I had so many memorized distances at that point in time with the 80 yard Calloway that it was difficult for me to just start over.  I still think that eventually I should just bite the bullet and go through that learning curve, because if nothing else, I definitely prefer the slower meter speed of the Mack Daddy.

My 50 yard wedge is by far the best in my bag, and I could never get rid of that and replace it with a 60 yard wedge like many carry.  I just wish that Mack Daddy had come out with a 64 degree wedge that went 50 yards.

I am not a good player as far as natural ability (that includes eye-hand coordination), so I need all the help I can get to slow down the meter speed.  This is also why I have stuck with the Max balls.  I find their spin to be sufficient, especially for anything 180 yards and in, and I simply score much lower with them than I do with the higher rated Nike balls.

So this goes back to points that others have already made that you have to learn what works for you.  I had to learn some things differently to play at a higher level of skill.  And once I did, I have become happy with my level of play.  I suppose that if I ever have the desire to get better still, then I would have to learn to do some things differently.

LOL too funny.  I will have to try that!

I did go out to Erin hills and did a random hole on champ 13 greens.  I intentionally gave myself a midrange pitch shot that could also be flopped.

I am using a L71 Nike ball that has a distance factor of 5 and spin of 4.  The ball Nancy is using is unlikely to play exactly the same but I can't swap out a ball mid round.

Yes, this is up hill a touch but going long means going over the false front and then it is good bye ball.  So you want to stop the ball close.

I have never mapped my clubs (yet) so I have to make educated guesses.  I believe I could get a flop to fly and stop dead pretty close to the hole but I would almost have to fly it in to make it because depending on how you play the flop it may not release much and you wouldn't want it to flirt with the false front beyond the hole.

Watching the pitch shot, you will notice it gets on the green and has enough time to slow down giving it a very good chance to go in had I gotten the line correct but I expected the slope to cause it to break a little more.  Next time, I just wouldn't play as much break.

That said, I have been short right on this green where a flop shot was absolutely the best shot to hit!  I actually had one in an AS game and holed out the flop where I could throw it up top and get enough spin to hopefully stop it close...in that game...it did go in!

Two locations, two different shots and both work well in each location.

for that reason alone, I probably wouldn't switch either.  I, like you, wanted my meter speeds to be closer together.  only reason, I upgraded to try and improve my "ding percentage" thinking the various meter speeds in my bag were messing with my overall timing.

only if you feel it is necessary.  I am not an advocate of spending more credits or upgrading just to upgrade.  various players have demonstrated better clubs do not make a player better, they can help, but it still depends on the person putting in the work.  as you have explained doing.

I do too regarding the missing 50y MD wedge.  I am trying to use the Max meter wedge but again wanted my meter speeds closer to help my timing.  I haven't sold back my AVG wedges because the upper level 50y Max Meter wedge is the only club purchase I have somewhat regretted, it lacks the spin I would have preferred for a upper level wedge.  I am "forcing" myself to try and adapt to it but, I may go back to the AVG.

If you do opt for the additional MD wedge and want to share information regarding potential mapping some distances, I am not opposed to working with someone if they are willing to share information on how they play.  Like I mentioned, I haven't mapped clubs to avoid using up useless hits on good credit balls!  But it could be what is holding my game back.  : )
