I had the same problem for the first couple of months. I bought the ping golf set. They were the only whole set available back then. the swing meter was so darn fast I went backwards. I tried to give myself time to get used to them, but after a couple of weeks I put the ping irons back in the closet and took out the ol starter clubs again. I had to use the ping driver at the time because BPB had just come out and it was the only hope i had to make it to some of the fairways.
And then WGT came out with the new clubs. YAY I waited a couple of weeks (chaffing at the bit) to get an idea of what every1 else was using, and how they were working. Eventually I settled on the Ping Raptures. In just 3 days, and probably about 12 hours worth of playing I lowered my average 4 strokes. After 2 weeks, and a couple days where i shot back to back good rounds I made it to the masters tier. I have always had problems with the fast meter. But IMO you can't go wrong if you buy the raptures. They have the distance of the longer clubs, but the same speed as the starter clubs. Along with the GI balls the meter is now playable for me and makes the game much more enjoyable. Eventually, (because of moving back to the blue tee's) I had to purchase the R9 masters driver to make some of the par 4s in 2 strokes. I still love my raptures and the only fast meter club I have is the driver. Best $30 I've spent in a long time.
