I had the same problem for the first couple of months. I bought the ping golf set. They were the only whole set available back then. the swing meter was so darn fast I went backwards. I tried to give myself time to get used to them, but after a couple of weeks I put the ping irons back in the closet and took out the ol starter clubs again. I had to use the ping driver at the time because BPB had just come out and it was the only hope i had to make it to some of the fairways.

And then WGT came out with the new clubs. YAY I waited a couple of weeks (chaffing at the bit) to get an idea of what every1 else was using, and how they were working. Eventually I settled on the Ping Raptures. In just 3 days, and probably about 12 hours worth of playing I lowered my average 4 strokes. After 2 weeks, and a couple days where i shot back to back good rounds I made it to the masters tier. I have always had problems with the fast meter. But IMO you can't go wrong if you buy the raptures. They have the distance of the longer clubs, but the same speed as the starter clubs. Along with the GI balls the meter is now playable for me and makes the game much more enjoyable. Eventually, (because of moving back to the blue tee's) I had to purchase the R9 masters driver to make some of the par 4s in 2 strokes. I still love my raptures and the only fast meter club I have is the driver. Best $30 I've spent in a long time.

    What JT said!!!

I have bought every set of iron clubs that have come out!!  Bagged some, sold some back and just stuck with the Raptures!!!  I love the slow meter, with the GI D Ball, makes it even better.  For me my problem is getting used to the fast driver then slow irons, but it is going good....well on some day's...hehe

    B :)

I'm new to this game and still using the starter clubs. For me, thus far the biggest difficulty has been meter speed. I was thinking of upgrading to a better driver and putter but am I correct in understanding that this would actually speed up the meter? The last thing I need is to have the meter speed increase for my drives. Am I understanding that incorrectly? I would thing a better club would decrease the meter speed and make your shooting more accurate.

Bart-All clubs have particular ratings that you can see and compare. The speed is indicated by the little arrow and is fastest  when it points straight up. The more to the left it is the slower the meter is.

Search the forum for "club comparison" and you'll find a very nice chart listing everything you need to know about all the clubs. GL

Yes I already found the chart and saw the meter speed increased for some clubs over the meter speed for the starter clubs I'm using now. But I wasn't sure I understood it correctly. As I said, for me the biggest issue I'm having is the meter and keeping the shots on line. If that's my major issue, it wouldn't appear to make sense for me to buy a club that exacerbates that problem.

The best option for you IMO is the Rapture set combined with the gi-d balls.

Slow meter with the Raptures slowed down by the "feel" of the GI-D balls.

    Hope this helps.
