    stuffix:

I'm with tiffer, SAME random winds for everyone in a single tournament.

Of course, that doesn't mean the winds will be the same every time you play those holes, it just changed from a tournament to another.

It wouldn't take long for it to be all over the forums, or a person who's played a round would send wind speed & direction of each hole to a buddy, which then gives that person an opportunity to set up his clubs/wedges/woods accordingly, i.e if i knew i wouldn't need wood on St Andrews #14 due to a tailwind i would pack another wedge instead, so thus giving others a slight advantage.

I know you still have to play these holes, but its would not be right.  Stick to random for everyone, its a open tournament so it should be as hard/random as it could be. If your worried about the wind, you shouldn't be there in the first place.

After the first round in U.S Open where i felt every single hole the wind was out to get me & deviation on top, club yardages not playing right, i only managed even par, but i seemed to get favourable winds then anyway for second round and scored 62.  I think WGT evens things out over 2 rounds anyway, so if you get favourable winds 1st round, you might get tougher winds 2nd anyway, so we should stop worrying about nothing and look forward to a tough tournament because without the random winds Royal St.George would be too easy.

IMO the direction should stay relatively the same but the speed should vary. Golf is played outdoors for a reason, weather and the conditions play a very pivotal role in your game. You can have the best equipment and skill set on the planet but if the wind is heavy you're going to struggle a little.

The direction and relative speed should stay close (one player shouldn't have 30 mph winds if everyone else had 3 mph) as PGA tournaments see all players play on the same day with wind speed and course conditions pretty much the same for everyone.

LOL, shots playing in consistency with the wind directions indicated is most important for me, why a 19 can play like 10 on one hole and 60 on another is confusing, and yes, thats with all views checked, arrowed and hit late or early to help compensate for ball drift, and roll when it touches down.    Im really looking forward to posting a 75 given errant indications out there, LOL

Again i have to ask the question,Is it fair that Player A can be hitting a 3 iron into a certain hole and player B  hits a PW,that's some difference isnt it,Thats what you will get at RSG with high winds,So my question is,,Is that fair? I don't putt well enough on Championship greens to worry about winning Opens ,I just dont think its fair,Is there another way of toughening the course up without high winds?

Just imagine how the Pro's in real life feel when the players who got to go out early in the morning had good conditions to play in but when their later afternoon tee times comes around it starts to rain and the wind picks up.

Thats different Honey,,:)im talking about the next player to tee off, maybe 2 seconds later not 2 hours,And stop comparing this to real golf, we sit in front of a screen with a glass of drink some crisp or chocolate, clicking away at a mouse,Why should i get 27  to 30 wind against on the first 4 holes and you get same wind but helping when you tee off 2 mins later?Accept the realism and dont get sucked in to the comparison,

I agree, especially for a big tournament like the Open. I could care less if the wind is 30mph or 50mph, but everyone should have the same winds.I faired okay in the US Open, 20th place...but as an example, in round 1, on 7 of 18 holes I had the worst possible wind for those particular holes(imo of course, everyone has dif views of bad winds for each hole). 20mph tail on #2, 18mph left to right on #4 and #5, 17mph tail on #7, 20mph headwind on #11, 19mph tail on #15, and 20mph head on #18.

Take 2 players of the same skill level, give player 1 a tailwind on every short par 4 and every par 5, and give player 2 headwinds on those exact same holes and player #1 wins every single time. With the randomness of the winds it become less about skill and more about getting lucky with wind.

I think the fairest way is to have the exact same conditions for all contestants in what is a one off competition. I don't care what anyone says, but anything else has to be seen as an unfair advantage to the player B who has a tailwind compared to player A who got the crosswind or headwind....I mean how can that be fair. ?

Given the fact that this won't be an unlimited comp....I think it's a necessity for WGT to give all players the exact same conditions on every hole or else the whole competition is a raffle.

To be honest, i would rather see the winds remain the same, and change the Open Rounds from 2 to 4.   This would almost ensure that all golfers see all winds, and that the competition would remain tighter, as even after one or two poor rounds, you would still be in it.

    Cheers,

Then we all have to tee off at approx. the same time, say in 2 hour time frame to avoid messaging of hole information? (same conditions scenario)
