lvietri: to give everyone a chance to play for their club and get involved in a CC wide tournament. At least it's done that
Absolutely. It's a great concept and should be repeated and copied. At Normans Webb, we are genuinely excited by our modest achievements each week and enjoy the chance to see how far off the pace we are.
It would be nice if it were universally accepted that sport, even virtual sport (for heaven's sake!!), has more important outcomes than winning and losing. It is not all about who has the biggest ... actually, in golf, that's smallest, isn't it :-) ... score.
I also want to report that, at our CC, some people are improving as a result of Lou's concept. I think Lou's concept helps focus the mind on the hardest challenge: the single play 18 hole, measured against the best, when your friends are going to want to know how you went. It provides a sharp focus in the weekly routine of RGs, unlimited plays and whatever.
At Normans Webb, we give an internal award which was won this week by one of our Masters. He was thrilled. He went off to Kiawa for wk 41 at the earliest opportunity and shot a PB 60. I doubt if he'll be a Master for much longer. We are all very excited for him. I would hope, in some small way, that other players in this comp (all around the world!) would be excited for him too.
That's what this particular comp should be, and still is, all about. That is Lou's contribution and achievement.
[BTW, and having seen Kurtsbuford 's post: I have played against JAFO12. Her score comes as absolutely no surprise to me.]
