Ed. With all due respect, as a CC Owner how could you say this..."There was nothing in the rule book!:" It is obviously very unethical and totally unfair competition.

I explained it as easy as possible in my first post.

AGAIN. Keep in mind. These players scores are NOT valid, just for this week, BECAUSE - they posted the 18 Hole Single Play during the week "BEFORE" they were memebrs of your club. It is ludicrous to play in a tournament whereas you can bring in non-memebrs mid-WEEK that have posted extremely low scores BEFORE they were members of a CC and expect those scores to be valid / official tournamnet scores. Give me a break.

If this holds, this tournamnet will be tainted, unfair, unethical, and MOST of all, not enjoyable to say the least.

Not only should it not hold... That CC should be kicked out of the competition. I can't believe that a CC owner would do something like that in the first place. And then... make a statement like  "There is nothing in the rule book". You should have just stuck with the "stupid" card you were playing at first when you apologized and claimed that you just don't know any better. Now you are branded a cheater rather than just stupid. People don't feel sorry for cheaters.

Upon further review (and of course your resignation), I retract my previous statement!

You are a gentleman and a scholar =)

That's so funny. Someone is trying to get a low overall score by recruiting new members and the complainers are the ones who take this tourney too seriously... Seriously?

speedy made the correct observation. I was hoping it was an honest mistake.

He did a good job golfing the day. There was enough time to clear this thing up before he starts his computer. But still too much noise and anger concerning a friendly battle between the best country clubs. Lets all cool down now and hope that this solves itself. Good look everybody at the birdies, eagles (and double-eagles?) tournament this week lol.

    Cheers, Hans

    Hans,

I disagree with you about too much noise and anger concerning a friendly battle. When I believe someone is caught cheating, it is no longer a friendly battle until that person is removed. I understand that you and I have different approaches to controversy and problems. I respect that. But.. like I have said before.. I will not lecture somebody on being too passive... Please don't start lecturing people on being aggressive.

Hi all ... in case any of you are curious ... it was a lovely day .. my group of 4 hacks (16 to 20 hcps) shot 6 under in a scramble and came in 3rd place.   Then we had a nice dinner and drinks.

Ok now let me try to make some sense of this mess.

    1)  To Edge and some of the others who are imploring me to DQ Carolina.    It's not going to happen.     If you all noticed there are no Carolina scores on the leaderboard.    Now that I have a submission from them ... I will check to see when their players joined the club --- and ask for a resubmission if some of the players were not in the club when they played.     End of subject.   Relax and let me run the tournament.

I have no issue with someone making a mistake  (in error OR on purpose)... especially if I did not specifically lay out the rules.

    2) To MReddy and Carolina --- Your right I did not specifically say you could not bring folks on board after they played --- however I did say the players had to be part of the club and that insinuated before they play.    I take it as a misunderstanding.

    3)  To all --- I have asked Mreddy to reconsider and send me a list of his teams scores for week 3.

    4) To Paul and Diane ... thanks for the support on having all of our members play.   However our club has decided who will / won't play for them in this tournament ... and I think we will stick with it.     Thanks so much though.

    5) If anyone of the clubs have an issue with the way I'm running this ... feel free to withdraw.   Your option.

    6) For those of you who don't get it yet .... this tournament was never about who wins .... if it was I'd put our top 10 against any club any single day.   And guess what .. I wouldn't be in it.     It's about getting all of the members of OUR club and YOUR clubs to participate in come club vs. club activity they probably wouldn't get to normally do when the top players square off.

As an aside ... the week before we started ... 219 legends played the weekly 18.  The last 3 weeks it's been above 250 ... and this past week above 287 ... (I know because at 2 under par I was 287th) ..... Think we stirred up some interest ... you betcha.    Our guys are rooting for each other as we play ... and having a blast with it.   I hope the rest of you are also.

So .. net net ... if Ed wants to resubmit Carolina Sandhills scores .. I have no issue with keeping them in the tournament.     I hope he reconsiders.

For those of you who don't like this .... your call also ... feel free to WD.

Thanks everyone ... and sorry for the long note.

    Lou

Hello Lou & Everyone , please accept my apology , I feel bad enough as it is , I didn't mean to be dishonest in anyway , having said that . I believe it would be best to withdraw the Sandhills from the competition , I wish you all the best !

No problem Ed ... That's your call and I respect your decision.   As long as you know .. you were welcome to stay.

That being the case .. I'd like to open it up to the 2 clubs who were party crashers.   To Cosa Nostra and Norman Webb Coll ...  You guys are in ... I'll re do the points based on a sliding scale of 10 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 .....

If you don't want to be in .. tell me .. (but I think you do).

    Thanks all.
