Spin Error on Drives

  Weird, haven't had it happen to me for a long while. Could be an issue related with a single club? Just a thought.

  Doodles... have a good read from about page 3... this is not specific to one club... its all cubs... even had mysteries on wedges... its a back spin issue... and not necessarily always full back either... it is just a no spin issue when it has been applied.

   

  And... WGTicon.... you may be right that modes of play are the same... but how do you say that with such certainty when you have no "apparent" idea as to how this problem is manifesting itself in the game???

  Also WGTicon... you asking for our opinions of the replays??  You guys now have the course that those 2 shots were hit on, you can see the wind, you can see the club he is hitting.... IF everyone is aware of the issue as you say, and ARE working on it as you say... surely your guys can set up both those holes, with those wind conditions, with that driver and rehit the shot with full backspin and view the trajectory and distances, THEN compare them to the replays. Not rocket science and something we all  know you must be able to do.

  This is all sounding very amateurish from a company with the expertise to design and run such a game. No disrespect Icon, but i am feeling that you are out of your depth as far as knowledge and ability to deal with this issue. I know you must be feeling some pressure over this issue, so I do hope you are pleading with your bosses to do something about this.

  I am tired of being in a highly competitive guild match and my Partner saying to me on Skype.. "Hope this isnt a WGT special off the tee"... and yes, this is a regular comment now!! 

  I had 3 flatliners in one Match Play 9 game yesterday, then in an Alt Shot guild match I had a drive on the 9th at Beth, 12mph tailwind pushing me left (the wind we all pray for on that hole to get to about 130yards out), aimed over the bunker, DINGED the drive, straight into bunker landing at 280yards.   Almost cost us the match again!!!!

  Time for action WGT!!!!

  Most of my games are multiplayer, so getting a replay is not possible most of the time. Will run through several games today in SP and see if I can get a couple.

  I agree with you Stu. I find myself crossing my fingers as though I'm playing Russian Roulette on some particular holes with a tight match on the line (esp, Beth #4 & #9).

  Though I don't represent  WGT, I would ask that everyone who experiences this  to take 10 seconds to record the date, time, course, hole# and, possibly, conditions (though conditions are less necessary IMO) and post it here. I'll make a spreadsheet and we can see if the random occurrences are more frequent on certain holes with the caveat that some holes are likely going to get played more than others and that only the few people that come here and actually post will represent a very small percentage.

  I don't like to repeat myself but I will. There is no difference between SP and MP games. Once the game starts, it is 100% identical.

  I want to focus on something else. Those who get these errors, what browsers are you using? I am particularly interested to see if it's IE, Chrome, Firefox or something else, so if you can reply, i'd appreciate it.

  I always use Comodo.

  PS...I've had the same thing happen on 9 at BPB(as mentioned above) as well, will save the replay if it happens again

  Well, I've played a couple rounds of SP this morning (at work) to try to grab a couple examples and experienced it only once definitively on BPB #4. I'm not looking for any freebies though I DID burn up a ball running through a couple rounds (and realize one replay doesn't qualify anyway, but all I had time for right now).

  The wind is 7mph from the 8:30 direction and I overlapped the "ding" with full backspin which is normally plenty to not only barely clear the rough, but get well to the center (or right side) of the fairway, and you can almost tell how I've been conditioned to err towards the right side of the bunker where a month ago I would have taken it right over the middle with that wind.

  For those that play as much as I do, you'll notice at the apex of the ball flight, it seems to nose over as though it has topspin instead of that gentle pause before starting down as it normally does with full backspin. In contrast, the next round I played here, i took it right over the middle of the bunker into an 8mph wind from 11 oclock with full backspin and cleared it easily with the high-trajectory you would normally expect from full backspin.. I almost saved that replay only to illustrate the difference, but didn't.

  I use Firefox over 90% of the time and Chrome the other 10%. This replay was experienced in Firefox. Not my best example, but here it is.

  2 things I'd like to add to this.

  One, the spin glitch happens even when using less than max. backspin. I hit a couple with 90% spin, and they went flat too. Two, a few times I've noticed a sort of loading error where when you pull the dot down for spin, it moves way below the ball. On pulling it up, the topspin reaches only just above mid point. Hitting this drive with max. backspin is always a spin glitch drive. Hope this helps the engineers in solving this bug.

  Im only fully reading this thread now, and dont know if this is related, but here goes. When i hit shots with irons, and they land after the hole, they just keep rolling. But if it lands before the hole, then the backspin kicks in? Keeping in mind that these shots would all be in low wind. Anyway, i have noticed the error with drives in S/P, and it usually happens on CCC with me.  I will try get a few replays up if and when it happens again.

  I went out to BPB #4 and caught a similar wind as Allen's replay above, 3mph vs 7mph.  I hit R11 driver, Callaway I(z) Vapor Level 39, Full Back Spin, and dinged it.

  Here's my replay.

  I stopped both Allen's and my replays when the balls landed.  Then I took screenshots of both.

  My ball carried 295 yards, Allen's carried 274 yards.

  Here's an animation with the two screenshots showing the big difference in elevations.

  I can't say for sure I've ever noticed this "glitch".  I do know for sure I've never used the Legend Callaway ball.  I notice Allen has the Legend Cally in his bag this morning. 

  Was that a Legend Cally you hit in the replay Allen?
