How is this rough?

  On the 5th hole at Oakmont I decided to go for the tee area off to the left.  Hit it perfectly  but it shows that I'm in 40 - 50% rough.  See above.  Why?

  Guessing WGT assigns values for anything off the fairway, and in this case it was assigned "rough", of the nasty 2nd cut kind.  Good try though.

  I once tried to nudge my ball up against one of those ancient markers you'll find in the St. Andrews' fairways.  WGT let me hit right through the marker as if it was "fairway".

  "Rough" because you beaned the group two holes ahead of you. Those Oakmont members cut up pretty rough.

  Well if this tee box is overgrown to the point it is 40 - 50% rough, WGT better break out the lawn mower and get a new grounds keeper.......lol.

  Earlier, I hit a shot on one of the ST. A holes, can't remember which, but I lost the shot way right into some heavy fescue.  In the center of it was a patch of fairway the size of a tee box.  Imagine my surprise when my ball ended up in the one clearing in the jungle, sitting pretty on fairway in the middle of a fescue morass.
