It has occurred to me that rather soon I will be moving up a Tier to Master. This will mean, among other things, that I'll be playing from a different set of tee boxes.

I think I might need to upgrade my current 225 yard driver! So, what would you suggest? Looking through reviews in the Pro Shop it would appear that anything with a yardage below about 260 will not be long enough. And as I'm currently using the Starter Balls, the club distance on its own is vital for me.

I'm nearing Level 68 and the unlocking of the Ping i15 driver. Should I save up the extra Credits and go for that, or perhaps the R9 TP 8.5? The Ping G10 also looks appealing, and I was wondering if the 260 yards of the Burner 9.5 would be enough from the Master tees.

While we're here (!) I was also thinking about how long my irons and wood/hybrid will have to be, as well. In fact, do I even need a hybrid or is a third wedge a better option? I see a lot of higher Tier players going for this option.

Any advice would be hugely appreciated, so thank you in advance.

    Jack.

The R9 is a very good club and will see you through to Legend. Into a wind it'll out distance any club that's available. It's a big step up to Master and you'll have to start buying balls to be competitive. Good luck.

R-9  8.5  is a beast from your box.  Great driver.

Hi Jack when i moved up to master tier i encountered the same problems but may i suggest you buy the G10 8.0 driver that is what i bought and it served me very well, until i was able to get the big stick the r11(level 88)

I only use the 10 credit balls myself rather than the starter balls and they do me ok,they're nowt special but i'm a tight wad who doesn't like spending 200+ credits on balls but that's my choice. As for getting a hybrid or another wedge i also saw most ppl having an extra wedge so i have 3 wedges in my bag now (got the top r11 hybrid aswell) which i very rarely use if at all.By using punch will get u out of most roughs an back on the fairway anyway, hope this helps

I'm not a Master yet but I think our tees are similiar. Here is my line up:

R9 8.5 Lvl 62- Makes every approach shot leass than 175.

R9 Fairway Wood 15- Really good for Par 5s also good for drives.

Wedges- I myself am thinking of a new line up. But right now its the Taylor Made TP 56, 60, and 64.

Irons- G10s(look at my status) or you can try the Burners (never buy the lower level ones I had them and they are horrible)

Putter- Spider Ghost level 36 (i think).

This lineup will probably work for you even when your a tour master or legend too.

I agree Russell. My G10 8.0 driver is plenty of club. Can only think of 1 or 2 holes (both on congressional ) I would like a little more length but that is about it.

I think that in buying equipment you should think through to the final level.  I made the mistake of buying the newer R9 just before the R11 came out, waste of credits because the R11 is just the best driver available.  If you can live with medium irons, like the Raptures or G10's you can make it all the way to Legend with them.  The key is to avoid buying each time you tier up and of course you know that WGT is always going to through something new at you.  I would expect to see new Ping 20's and TM R11 irons soon.
