How about a practice mode? Every golfer I know goes to the range, and several work with pros to refine their game. Learning the vagaries of chipping, putting, playing the wind, etc, during WGT games, and only as chance permits, is rather arduous, and occasionally very frustrating. I'd love to have a chance to practice bunker shots, chipping from light rough/thick rough, and putting over various contours. This would be especially valuable after purchasing a new piece of equipment.

You can play all the courses in practice mode. But as for a driving range or a putting green WGT says no.

True we have practice mode, BUT you can not repeat a shot from the same place over and over.

I wholeheartedly concur ... after several months of being stuck in a rut i.e. GIR but putts that lip out, are short or end up God knows where, I would love to just practice putting.  As we say in Australia, preaching to the converted - it's a pity no-one at WGT have undergone a conversion!

I prefer practice mode over a range -- that would get boring in a hurry. You can practice putting in practice mode too, by aiming away from the hole. But what I'd like to see is a closest to the hole-type mode with putting ONLY -- for practice. Just like CTTH, but you putt until you hole the ball.

Well, yes, exactly like a practice green.

"Practicing" putting by aiming away from the hole seems completely counter-productive to me. When you're trying to master a skill, any skill, why would you practice mistakes? In terms of getting bored, players will practice for precisely as long as it takes for them to get comfortable with a particular shot, not until the entertainment value has dropped below some arbitrary threshold.

IMO a practice mode of any kind is useless because of the games ability to be consistent.

Just curious Woodoworkery, is your real golf game consistent?

NO, but that is reality, and this is a man made game.

You could aim for a certain point OB to be able to repeat a shot.  LOL

I know,  not helpful, but if you were allowed to practice the same shot over and over...

Sure the conditions are never the same but it would still be an unfair advantage.

Another way to 'repeat a shot' in a way , would be to compete in a CTTH contest. 9 shots from different locations that you can play over and over without having to play the whole course. A very good source of practice.
