I was happy to come back to this thread and find that the person had come on and apologized.  I find his post in the open for all to see to be a great step in and of itself to put the issue to rest.  I realize that everyone makes mistakes in life; I know I've made mine.  It's also nice to see the community come together and give support to Helen.. another example of a stand up community we are a part of here.

imperialrock - i was outraged by your comments and then felt strangely uplifted with the remorse expressed in your apology. Whatever is happening in your life outside of WGT I sincerely hope this sad episode helps to make it a better.

Helen - I am humbled by the way you dealt with this and the acceptance of the apology from imperialrock. I would consider it an honour if the gods of randomness ever set up a game with you.

    Dear SuttonPlaysGolf,

Thankyou so much, not sure if  WGT has a person of the year or even if i'd be in the running, but thank you very much, and i'd love to meet you on the course,

    Helen.

    WGTicon:

Hi everyone. NO, posting link is not OK either. There is no difference. Please email pictures to members@worldgolftour.com and let us handle it. -wgticon

I Think posting a link in this type of situation is very acceptable Icon.

I agree naming somebody in the forum is a no-no, but posting a link, like Helen did was really good and should be allowed to be done in the future.

I was thinking if all this was done behind closed doors, would the fantastic end result be the same.

    Cheers

       Roger

Wow, tolerance and reason breaking out on a WGT forum, who would have thunk it?  Good to see nevertheless.

It's the normal lack of tolerance and reason here that means WGT are quite right not to allow 'naming and shaming', more innocent people than guilty would be hurt.

I respect Helen's approach both for standing up for herself and in the way she handled it. While certainly unacceptable, Imperialrock has handled himself in a respectable manner in attempting to reconcile and apologize.

Forgive and forget? No. Forgive, yes, but please don't forget.

    Case closed IMO.

Very interesting thread. Classy way of resolving it all round. My props to Helen, Imperial and Icon.

One thing emerged that I thought bears examining: why is it that so many people were up in arms about the fact that this was levelled at a female player?  The word in question is not gender-specific, yet quite a few comments were about how this is disrespectful to our female members and how so many male players are abusive and so on.  It almost implies that, if it were a guy, it would have been ok?  But because it was a woman it is somehow worse?

For me, any kind of abusive or disrespectful word or behaviour should be the issue. Doesn't matter from who, or to who.
