Is anyone here on WGT using something like a Strackaline yardage book? Sorry if this is a repeat - I did search the forums.

$6.95 to download a pdf. Is it worth it? Does it help?

The Royals are not available, but BPB, KOC, CCC AND OCC are. Thanks in advance for any counsel.

I don't see how it could help, the aim arrow is an adaptive yardage book/marker.

Right you are MBaggese!  And in the game options, turn on the yardage markers.  In general they'll tell you how far to clear a bunker or hazard or to the front of the green.  Basically the same thing a yardage book tells us.

Only thing that I can see that having a yardage book would help is...

knowing how far your clubs carry in various conditions, shot types and meter strength, and even per golf ball.

i.e.  I have found that my 115yd cleveland lands pretty near 98yds with full power out of 40-50 rough.

I have tried to start something to keep track but said the hell with it, too much work.

hp, you have hit upon one of the reasons why I thought a yardage book could help. If we had a well marked plat or map of each hole, with distances and breaks and such, we could print it out and then record our shots on it, trying to see what patterns and subsequent scores arise. It would be an easy way to track the best way to play each hole, based on round-by-round experience.

I suppose an alternate would be to print out the little WGT maps of each hole and use them, but that seems like a lot of work, too.

I also note that on the Strackaline website there is a pretty amazing video showing how their mapping of the breaks and speeds on greens works IRL.

    Anyway, thanks for the comments.

This might work for that, Palladio.   http://wgt.com/forums/t/61616.aspx?PageIndex=2

YankeeJim, thanks! Great stuff. And if you follow the thread and register for the WGTLS site, all the courses are present.

My printer will run out of ink in the middle of CCC, I think, but I'll get these guys on paper somehow, and start making notes. Now if only I can find a way to fit them in my back pocket....
