Announcing Doc's Place Points Tour Bracket Tournament
(Begins Monday February 21, 2022)
Because there has been some very good membership participation in our most recent bracket tournaments, we thought we would expand it a bit and create a Points Tour Bracket Tournament.
How it works. We will be playing the standard WGT Bracket Tournament format. Points are awarded as a player advances through the brackets. The overall winner of the Points Tour will be the one to reach a set goal. For the inaugural tournament, the goal will be 500 points.
As with a typical bracket tournament, once all the slots (16) have been filled, the tournament clock begins. Players will have 24 hours to complete a bracket. This is a single elimination tournament. We will play the same course for the 4 rounds with the 1st and 2nd bracket being the front and back 9 played under Low wind and Champ Greens. The 3rd and 4th brackets will be the same front and back 9s, but played under Moderate wind and Champ Greens. The course will be randomly selected by the club's Super Secret Selector Spinner.
Points. Points will be awarded to the player as they reach the next bracket. The points will accumulate as a player advances through the brackets. Breakdown of the awards are as follows:
Quarter Final: 5 pts
Semi Final: 10 pts
Final: 15 pts
Final Winner: 20 pts
Does not advance to Quarter Final: 0 pts.
Example: Player #1 advances but loses the semi final match. Total points awarded: 15pts. ( 5 (for advancing to Quarter Final) + 10 pts (for advancing to Semi Final)
Player #12 wins the Bracket Tournament. Total points awarded: 50 pts.
(5 (for QF) + 10 (for Semi) + 15 (for Final) + 20 (for the Win)
The Winner of the Points Tour Bracket Tournament will be the one who accumulates 500 points.
A leaderboard will be created then updated and posted after each bracket tournament.
Note. A new bracket tournament will begin the following day upon completion of the previous tournament. Only the first 16 members to sign up will be eligible for that particular tournament so it will be important to sign up early. However, if a member misses out, their points are retained on the leaderboard with opportunities to amass additional points in future tournaments.
Because the tournament will be on a 24 hour clock, it is advisable that once a member signs up, that they should go ahead and play the 1st round at their earliest opportunity to as to not miss / forget to play. The players should receive an e-mail notification for subsequent rounds.
