Losing balls in the Gorse Bush down the right hand side???
YankeeJim has a pic posted about that nasty Gorse.
A smart layup is often the much better play. There is definitely a risk / reward element off the tee - but what you stand to gain isn't good enough to justify a bonehead play. Just short of the gorse and you still have a short iron to the green. Why play it any other way?
