What kind of bs operation are you running here seriously? I am spending $3 for a pack of balls that last as about as long as a ice cube on the sidewalk in July, only to have the worst lag I have ever seen in any online game that causes me to lose these $3 balls, what a joke! I played pga 2000 13 years ago, 13 YEARS AGO (OLD SOFTWARE) and (OLD TECHNOLOGY)  But yet they had a AWESOME METER! Go figure. They didn't charge money for clubs and balls, it was all free but yet there was no lag, hmmmmm, maybe because there was no money to be made? hmmmmmm

That's why we all have a choice to play free or pay, I remember when I was born, I was given a choice, I could be well endowed or have a great memory, I can't remember what choice I made.

Have you checked out your PC and internet? It's easy to blame WGT all the time but in most cases the problem is nearer home.

Hey Piz, here's one thing I disagree with you on.  THE PROBLEM is not with my PC, IT IS WGT's PROBLEM because they put way too much load on our processors.  This is from my profile blog:

    Fix the meter WGT, Please!
    13 Jul 2011 at 12:32 PM

I've been here on World Golf Tour two years now and the meter sucks just as bad today as it did back then.  I added 1g memory to my 3 yr old PC, still bad, I ran Game Booster on it and did all the recommended tweaks. Still bad.

Although I'm connected to a 25Mbps cable modem and I now have a i5 quad core processor with 4Gb memory and a nice graphics card which far exceeds the minimum requirements set down by WGT, I still need to jump through the following hoops to get a decent meter.

By decent I mean few stutters or lags in solo play, but some in multi-player because the load the game puts on our CPU in multi-player is much higher.

    The Hoops:
    - I use Chrome for the game client even though FireFox is my preferred browser I shut FF down to play on Chrome which is more efficient I've found.
    - I set the processor affinity for the 5 chrome processes to a single CPU.
    - In multi-player using Skype, I set the processor affinity for the Skype process to a processor different from the game to avoid interference.
    - I keep my graphics card driver updated
    - I keep my WGT Friend's List to under 40 names.  A compromise between game play smoothness and community.  0 friends would be smoother.
    - I shut down all other browser windows
    - I monitor CPU usage while playing using Task Manager because sometimes the game client just goes nuts and starts eating up my CPU.  God only knows what it or Flash is doing but its time then to save the game and close that browser window.
    - I restart my Chrome browser window after every game
    - I've set my Flash Global storage settings to 100Kb
    - I right click on the Game Client and uncheck "Loop"
    - I set graphics quality to Low in the game options
    - I turn off Reflections in the game options
    - I turn off Flag animation in the game options
    - I turn off the Putting Grid
    - I turn sound off for Invitation Alerts
    - I turn Avatar Angles off
    - I turn background loading off
    - I pause for a count of 3 after changing back from zoom mode to allow the CPU to complete its WGT work
    - I pause at the top of my  backswing for a count of 3 or 4  to allow the CPU to complete any WGT work it might have started before I began my swing.

Essentially, WGT says our order for manure will fit into a 20 lb sack.  But when we go to pick up our order it won't all fit into a 20 lb sack.  So either we leave some of the manure behind by turning off graphics quality, flag animation, the main browser window, etc, etc.  OR we go buy a bigger sack.  Coincidentally I did,  I got a 40 lb sack and the manure still overflows!

    ------------------------------------------------------

Look at it a 2nd way...I go to an auto dealer to buy a new truck.  I need to park that truck in my garage at night so I show the dealer my exact garage dimensions and he assures me the truck will fit in my garage.  So I buy the truck and drive it home.

I find the roof of the cab will not clear the overhead door.  The truck's 2" too tall.  So I prop up the overhead door and drive the truck into the garage and pull it all the way forward.  But the overhead door hits the tailgate on the way down.  The truck's too long AND too high.  The dealer was wrong.

So I call the dealer.  He tells me just let 20 psi out of the tires to lower the truck and remove the front and rear bumpers and I'm good to go.  Yeah, right.

Sorry for such a long post.  But the problem is WGT says the game will run smoothly on a much smaller PC than mine, but it doesn't.  So either WGT publishes new, true, higher System Requirements (ain't gonna happen because it will deter new members), or they optimize their code to reduce the load it puts on our system.

I'd sure like to put the bumpers back on and run the game with 150 friends on my list, hi quality graphics,  the flag flapping, and reflections on the water.  You know, realistic.

Andyson your post has been the most common sense ever on this site (as they usually are).  This is what i've been telling people for ages but they say it MY fault.  I have a dual core, 1 gig of ram cpu with no graphics card, i also have a i5 cpu with 4 gig of ram and a 1 gig amd radeon graphics card. I get exactly the same meter on both.  Smooth for a bit, get the odd pause or skip, sometimes also shaky, but the meter is exactly the same what ever cpu i use.

Without turning this into a meter whinefest, I have a simple question.

Why do I not have any, yes I said any, of these problems?  250+ friends coming and going, the audio player running in the background with either a live Yankees' broadcast or music playing and total full screen with the highest quality and resolution.

Keep the wiseass comments out of it, just answer the question please.

    Thank you.

Because, Jim, you jump through all the hoops?  You got the putting grid turned on too?  The flag animation turned on?  4 person multi-player?  AV running too?  Other browser windows open?
