    piztaker:

Just wait until you make Legend and get a 30mph wind there

Yeah definitely not looking forward to that actually that sounds pretty damn scary.

Don't need to be a legend for a 30mph wind

Thanks guys but i've played other courses and actually birdied st.andys #17. Still one of the hardest holes out there.

Well, maybe so but you've played over 100 rounds and haven't broken 85 yet on RSG, Bethpage, Oakmont or Congressional... Play some other courses, it's good for your game. If you only play St. Andrews 90 percent of the time, your score's gonna go down but you won't really get better.

Now move back 35-40 yards and give it a go;)

I think what piztaker was speaking of, 30mph into you..best dinged R11 drive is about 270 leaving 225-230 to the hole.

Exactly, I reached the 17th yesterday with all the previous greens reached in regulation. Got a mega wind in my face and the ball just touched the rough on the left, which left me 230 yards to the green and no way to get it there.

Yeah you're right I don't play other courses often, but that's partly every time I join a multiplayer game it's either st. andys or the ocean course and partly cause when i set up a game I play st. andy's as it's my favourite. And actually i just shot a 70 on RSG. Tripled bogyed the last hole due to insanity, tired the same shot 3 times before I remembered what Angus said to Bobby Jones when he was in the bunker at St. Andy's. Kinda felt like an idiot.

OK, this one's only 153 out from the 1st cut with a 10 mph tailwind but still fun to watch.

Such a feeling of accomplishment to birdie this hole though.   Heck, I am happy just to par it ;-)

I have birdied #17 several times, very rarely par this hole. It is usually a double bogey. This is the hole that has kept me from having 18 GIR's and 18 fairways hit. Every single time I have played 18 here, this hole has killed me. I even back off the drive to stay in the fairway, and it still finds the rough. This is on my bucket list, to get even with old Nbr17. I have conquered old nbr 7, but that's a different story, has something to do with Lynchburg, Tenn.
