Thought this made for an interesting comparison to the difficulty of the WGT courses:

    http://www.golfdigest.com/golf-courses/2012-01/americas-75-toughest-courses?currentPage=2

Kiawah ranked #1 toughest with Oakmont and Bethpage not far behind. Congressional down at #24.

Curious to know how WGT players would rank these four U.S. courses from a WGT perspective. Probably something like:

    1. Oakmont

    2. Congressional

    3. Bethpage

    4. Kiawah

    ?????

    I'd say...

    1. Oakmont

    2. Kiawah

    3. Congressional

    4. Bethpage

My voting is based on experience from playing these courses off the back tees - Kiawah becomes a beast from the tips, but Oakmont is just plain evil.

I'd go along with that, it's hardly Kiawah's fault though that WGT cocked up the angles on the greens.

    In heavy winds I'd have:

    Oakmont

    RSG

    CCC

    SA

    KI

    BPB

    Obviusly:

    1.- Oakmon C.C

    2.- Bethpage black

    3.- Congressional C.C

4.- Kiawah The ocean course. (Easiest on WGT)

Once you hit the back tees it changes a lot.

My view from my tees is:

    Oakmont

    Kiawah

    Congressional

    Bethpage

Not sure if anyone else noticed the course rated at No.13 in the 75 toughest. It just so happens to be the upcoming US Open course. Wonder if that gives us an idea as to how difficult the 2012 US Open will be?

I agree with right tools bethpage becomes ur local Muni golf course...and Oakmont is not tough for me though...I go:

    1:Kiawah Island

    2:Congressional

    3:Oakmont

    4:RSG

    5:Bethpage

    6:St. Andy's

    7:Best of

    8 Cabo Del Sol

Kiawah back 9 is 4,000 yds from the Legend tees and I putt oakmont well so those are my ratings

You must be a less than legend because Kiawah is impossible to go rly low on from the back tees! From the front tees I culd shoot a 53 all day but from the back my best out of 10 wuld be a 62...its not easy

Seems that the difficulty has changed over the last year on some courses. They are all playing really tough for me now, but with the nastiest pin placements and heavy winds they rank (toughest first):

    1. Oakmont (because of the height variations and impossible greens)

    2. Royal St. George (crazy inconsistency in ball distance and some green terrain reads that are wildly misleading)

    3. Congressional (seems like all mistakes are exaggerated by the kindly folks at WGT and the bunkers have vacuum action)

    4. Bethpage Black (although heavier winds actually make some of the holes more playable than in low winds)

    5. St. Andrews (seems to be tougher than the original version, although there are a couple holes where I've hit 3 different irons exactly right under the same conditions that end up in the same place as if predetermined)

    6. Kiawah (playing a tad tougher lately, but I always enjoy this course)

The last several weeks have been a real slog. More frustrating than fun. Heavy internet traffic in the mid fall through the holidays makes for very stuttery and inconsistent meter speeds and the courses WGT are putting up for free weekly tourneys are set up so tough it is hard to score. I want the game to play to my fantasies, not to mirror my struggles on the real courses I play.
