I reached Legend yesterday, but I'm only at level 69.

As you can imagine, I'm struggling.

My bag consists of the following:

    • Putter: Ghost Spider (L35)
    • Irons: Ping K15 (L38)
    • Driver: G10 (L58)
    • 3W: Rapture (L47)
    • Wedges: Tour W 56d, 60d, 64d (L41)
    • Ball: I have Nike (s), Callaway (s) (L33), and Callaway (s) (Legend) in the bag. (I don't like the Nike balls at all)

Obviously, if I were at level 90+, my equipment upgrade would be a no brainer, but that's not my situation unfortunately.

    My question is as follows:

I want to upgrade my clubs one more time before level 90. My game has been focused on pinpoint accuracy inside of 100 yards, but that's not going to work for me anymore. After half a dozen rounds at the back tees, I'm hitting long irons into most greens.

What upgrades, available to me either now, or within the next few levels, would be best to tide me over until I'm able to get the high end clubs?

My priorities, in order of importance:

    1. precision
    2. spin
    3. forgiveness
    4. swing meter

Helpful suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The High trajectory irons, namely the G10s or the i15s. You can't go wrong with the G10s but if you can handle the faster meter, the i15s are very accurate. Either way, you need the higher trajectory and a ball with spin will help you control the landing on those long irons.

IMO, the G10s would be a better choice simply because you're going to introduce a new learning curve to your game with the high trajectory clubs. Compounding that with a faster meter to learn (i15s) sets you up for some serious frustration. There are quite a few Legends doing quite well with those G10s and then, when you get to the Burners or R11s, you will really appreciate the difference.  GL

    Thanks for the suggestion.

Do you have any input between the two on the stopping power with the long irons? How about playability of the mid and short irons from the rough?

With the advent of better clubs and balls,  there will be much younger legends who are at a disadvantage competing against everyone  not having access to the best equipment.

I realize the legend marketbase is a smaller pool, but it is disappointing that WGT will enable a hack who creates a new account to be able to buy level up bars and go straight to lvl 60 equipement without investing a day playing or single ranked round.  But then they won't unlock all equipment for legends after they have invested hundreds of hours and $$ into the wgt site earning the top tier.

Can anyone explain the marketing thought behind this procedure?

Given the parameters though, I'd vote the g10 irons for you as well until get to lvl 90 r11s

          ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

At level 85, get the R11 3wood, at level 88, get the R11 driver and at level 90, get the R11 irons. If you just can't wait for level 90, get the L79 Burner 2.0's, but I'd advise you wait till L90.

    On a side note...

I know the usual complaint is that tour masters and below are often equipped with the same clubs as legends which gives them unfair advantage.

In my case, the situation is a bit different. Frankly, I think once you reach legend, all equipment should be automatically unlocked.

It took me two months of solid playing to reach level 69 (140K xp for level 70). It takes 486K to reach level 90. That's over three times more than the XP I currently have.

Basically, I would have to play for another 4 months with inferior equipment before even being allowed to use the same clubs as everyone else.

I'm not sure I'm up for that.

Anyway, thank you for the helpful input. I'll probably go with the G10s and a 105 yard wedge to fill the gap.

R11's will be your ultimate target so get them as soon as can.

The G10 irons are great clubs, way better than the ones you currently have.  The i15 are a step up the ladder though so if you can handle the meter they will help your game more than the G10.

To be honest I think you can forget the R11 irons, by the time you get there the goalposts will have been moved again.   It's taking me forever to get from L89 to 90, about another 10 days should do it.  They'll make a nice new year present I guess.

Wedges don't seem to have got much of a mention so far.  Until you can get the top Clevelands I'd go for Z Satins, they're really nice clubs, especially the 64°.

And when you get to L62, an R9 driver.  Then again at L80 and the R11 at 88.

The wish list is somehow never empty.

I shouldn't have complained. I just re read it and I sounded like a petulant child complaining about his birthday cake. Not very cool.

Anyway, thanks again for all the input. It sounds like the G10s are the consensus opinion. I'll definitely make that change soon. But first I'm going to try and get a few dozen rounds under my belt to re-learn the courses.
