    jmehdi:
Do you have any input between the two on the stopping power with the long irons? How about playability of the mid and short irons from the rough?

Don't expect screeching stops with either set. The higher spin balls will help this but you're going to find yourself in a situation where you need to be really smart attacking the greens. Instead of trying to stick shots all the time, club down, use top spin and run up to holes. This way you can take full swings and get a good idea of where each green needs to be attacked from and how it rolls, not to mention limiting the damage on missed hits-clubbing down adds a measure of "maximum distance" so if you're off line you're not a mile away.

Use your back spin sparingly, learn the clubs without it first and then use it to control your roll out after landing.  1/4 to 1/2 spin will control this while full back spin will shorten the carry as well as slow that roll after landing down.  You'll see those irons come in higher and land softer so you won't need a ton of spin to get close. Lots of learning to do and I'm sure you'll get it. Be patient-play lots of AS games with other Legends. The fun just got funner.  GL  ;-)

As usual, Jim has great advise!!! I myself will may never get rid of my G 10 irons. Also, take in concideration the the meter.  Another good thing about the G 10 is when you end up getting the R 11 driver (assuming), your meters will remian the same. This is the main reason I have not purchased the R 11 irons. They have a different meter speed than the driver. I wish when we bought the clubs, we had the option for a faster meter. If I could have a faster meter with my R 11 driver, I would get the R 11 irons. DO YOU HEAR THAT WGT?? GIVE ME A CUSTOM R 11 DRIVER WITH THE SAME METER SPEED AS THE R 11 IRONS AND WE WILL DO SUM BINNUS!! LOL!!! If I was not boo who in, you guys would think it was an imposter.

    RUNWME:

With the advent of better clubs and balls,  there will be much younger legends who are at a disadvantage competing against everyone  not having access to the best equipment.

I realize the legend marketbase is a smaller pool, but it is disappointing that WGT will enable a hack who creates a new account to be able to buy level up bars and go straight to lvl 60 equipement without investing a day playing or single ranked round.  But then they won't unlock all equipment for legends after they have invested hundreds of hours and $ into the wgt site earning the top tier.

Can anyone explain the marketing thought behind this procedure?

Given the parameters though, I'd vote the g10 irons for you as well until get to lvl 90 r11s

Simple: WGT wants to take some more money from those players that don't deposit anymore and the top players (i.e. you). I did fine with the G10s as a Master and I was careful to have the burners before Tour Master (I never played anything but the toughest ready-go's) because I figured most other TMs had the burners. I got the Burners, dropped 3 strokes ( 6 for Oakmont) and the next day became a TM. Now I am a Legend (waay to early) but I am doing fine with the Burner 2.0 (lvl 79+) because they were made for Legend tees (people were shooting insanely low at the majors without the R11s)...I would say get the G10s and if you have a few extra credits get i15s also because the G10s are the highest you can get without speeding up the swing and they are not good enough to stay afloat at Legend. I made lvl 79 over 2 months ago and I am at lvl 87 now (and I play A LOT)! It takes waaay too long to get to level 90 from your level, so get the Burners when you get there. I'm debating whether any of the r11 stuff is worth it, except for the 3 wood-simply the best.

By the way, I am one of those players that never deposits. The last deposit I made was Sep. 15th and I put in 1 dollar. Now I hold steady at 3,000 credits...I think WGT is trying to find a way to make me deposit 5 dollars per week or something lol :)

I checked my history and  been almost 2 months since made my last   3 deposits which were done from oct29-nov1 2011 . Ive deposited about 200.00 since starting this game  and its provided a lot of bang for buck. Hundreds of hours of entertainment for less cost than 1 day out on the boat with family.

Now that I've reached high levels and have the best equipment it no longer effects me, other than being a voice for others in hopes of game equality. Would you agree or disagree that if  lvl 60 g10 iron set is open to hacks their first day joining the site (with lvl bars) ,  Young legends like yourself . jmehdi and others should be allowed to buy the best equipment available  if they so desire since on the back tees. With better balls/wedges/sharing information, legends will get younger and younger as this game progresses.

The penalty for new legends will be even greater as they are competing against seasoned high level legends with inferior clubs for months until they lvl up.  Remember that when the g10s were best available, very few people reached legend tees before lvl 59 so pretty much could buy the best clubs available at the time and compete apples to apples. This is no longer the case for young legends.

I feel this  does  nothing but encourage players to play fewer ranked rounds  to prolong moving up to legend so they will have a fair shake at it when they get there. Intuitively would think  more will just drift away from the game once they reach legend tier without access to competitive equipment..

I'm not sure they will drift away. I think the most fun in this game is when you are new to a  tier a you struggle to find your game even with inferior equipment. At least it was for me. Now I got most of the best equipment know where to hit the ball on most greens, how to get out of sand traps and heavy rough ect. Now I find myself drifting a little, don't play near as much as I did when everything was new and way harder. Now it is figuring out the wind (good luck) and hitting the ding. Kinda wish I had a new challenge.

    Go for these:

I'm not a ledgend, but I have used both the G|10s and the i15s.  I could handle both with Tour-SD balls though the i15s were a struggle with them so I switched to the Tour GI-S balls.  Where you use the Callaways, I don't think the i15 meter will be a problem.  I just didn't find it to be nearly as scary as it had been hyped up to be.  Enough about the meter, though.  The i15s are hands down better irons all around.  Don't get me wrong, the G|10s are pretty awesome, but the i15s are definitely enough more awesome to justify going with them.  I can stop all shots pretty much dead with the i15s except for the 3i and 4i, and the 5i has a little roll usually.  You got the Callaways, though, so you'd probably do a lot better stopping them than I do, and I do fine with the Tour GI-S balls.

I just made Legend a couple of days ago. Been playing with G10's since I was first able to get them and it would be difficult for me to give them up. They have been great clubs !!....and, so-far-so-good even at Legend.

I rented the Burner 2.0 set when I hit level 79. They are a step-up in some respects but not for $24.95. WTH?? I would love to put them in my bag and learn to use them but I've already spent a small fortune on just the darn balls to play this game. If I can make it work with the G10's then that's what I will do.

Maybe it's just me but charging $25 for a set of  'virtual' clubs seems kind of exhorbitant. Would like to do it but the practical side of me is resisting. Have probably already spent more on this 'virtual' game than I should have.....but it sure is fun to play !!!

I just wanted to say thanks again for all the good advice in this thread. I know I just asked about clubs, but the answers have been rich with other nuggets that have already improved my game noticeably.

"Drive for show, Putt for dough."  OP - I'd seriously consider upgrading your putter.

I agree with losersss...have a look at the level 55 Daytona.  I used it up until about a month ago, and still haven't completely decided to switch to the Ghost.  Excellent lower-level putter, and if you're a "mis-hit" putter, probably a better choice than the Ghost.

Also, the TM Z-Satin 64 degree wedge (L39) is probably the last club I'd ever change in my bag.  Absolutely deadly from anywhere within about 50yds. However, if you already feel the same way about your Ping...then don't change!

Confidence is a huge help in this game, and if you feel confident hitting a particular club?  Then keep hitting it....
